aja540i 1906 Report post Posted September 25, 2014 I have heard that the braided hoses that have a small piece of plastic hose over the braided stainless where the ends are fitted aren't the best, the best ones are metal right to the braided hose. Having said that i have had a set of these on my 540i wagon for about 2 years now and i haven't died!!

Having said that i have had a set of these on my 540i wagon for about 2 years now and i haven't died!! The plastic piece is there to stop the hose wearing against the collar and bursting. Without that plastic they have no chance of passing adr regs and hence are illegal.

Without that plastic they have no chance of passing adr regs and hence are illegal.I was told it is there to make the hose o.d. bigger so they can use a standard end fitting, the same one one as a rubber hose, instead of making specific fittings to fit the braided line. I have seen hoses without the plastic bit, but most of the cheap ones have them.Like i said, i have no problem using them, and I'm just passing on what i heard, it could be sales b.s.!
