Are these any good.

Recommended Posts

I have heard that the braided hoses that have a small piece of plastic hose over the braided stainless where the ends are fitted aren't the best, the best ones are metal right to the braided hose. Having said that i have had a set of these on my 540i wagon for about 2 years now and i haven't died!! :)

The plastic piece is there to stop the hose wearing against the collar and bursting. Without that plastic they have no chance of passing adr regs and hence are illegal.

I was told it is there to make the hose o.d. bigger so they can use a standard end fitting, the same one one as a rubber hose, instead of making specific fittings to fit the braided line. I have seen hoses without the plastic bit, but most of the cheap ones have them.

Like i said, i have no problem using them, and I'm just passing on what i heard, it could be sales b.s.!
