jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted October 27, 2014 Aww, man. That's bad luck. Hope you can get it fixed but if not you should be able to recoup your investment by parting it out. At least you can get a 540i now (preferably an insured one!).
qube 3570 Report post Posted October 27, 2014 if it was the other guys fault, why did the police say both at fault just because the OP didnt have car insurance? doesnt make sense.. whether you have car insurance or not shouldnt affect the decision making as to who is at fault right?? evljat 1 Report post Posted October 27, 2014 That sucks. Guess door, guard and mirror. Doable as a diy but paint will be the clincher. second hand panels but paint is the pity.Looks nice inthe pic too sucks eh The mirror straightened out fine but it's a not stuck on as firmly as the other one looks/works fine though. I think BMWorld in Papakura have a matching guard. I'll be giving them a call soon. Otherwise there's a white one on trademe for $60. I got a mudguard and a mirror you can have for free You just have to paint it and I can take it to Aucks for you txt me on 0272417328 Cheers That's an incredible offer and I'm thankful. I'll give you a text after I see the panel beater to see what he thinks I need. What a bummer. Case in point for insurance though... Yup. I've been driving for 6 years and have been insured for 5. Only twice I've had an accident and both times didn't have insurance. Aww, man. That's bad luck. Hope you can get it fixed but if not you should be able to recoup your investment by parting it out. At least you can get a 540i now (preferably an insured one!). Will try my best to get it fixed because I really like this car. It's amazing, there's not a single rattle or squeak. if it was the other guys fault, why did the police say both at fault just because the OP didnt have car insurance? doesnt make sense.. whether you have car insurance or not shouldnt affect the decision making as to who is at fault right?? Perhaps I didn't word it correctly. The police determined both parties at fault because we were both reversing at the time of the accident. Me not having insurance has nothing to do with the police's decision. What I meant was if I was insured I would just paid my excess, fixed the car up and called it a day. Dad came over last night and had a look at the car and he recommends me to fix it up and keep it. the majority of the damage is on the guard which is cheap enough to replace. The door will either need to bogged over or have the dent pulled out. I'll need to have a chat with a panel beater and see what he recommends. I will also start up a build thread in the correct section rather than spamming the TradeMe Discussions.
hotwire 352 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 Would be sacrilige to part out the car on what looks minor damage on a mint looking example
qube 3570 Report post Posted October 28, 2014 i would just buy a secondhand door and guard, brent or someone could help out. then get it painted. no need to go to a panel beaters who will probably charge you like $4-5k... i had a similar damage on my e36 coupe. door and guard. it was nearly a write off cuz they billed me $4500 or similar. insurance paid out and i got to keep the car which was nice but i swear they just got a secondhand door and then just painted it. would have cost them no more than $1000 MAX!!
