musccoo 82 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 So I have a valve cover stud in the top of my head which is horrifically stuck. We tried welding nuts onto it but no success. So then we tried an easy out which split the side of the stud. So now I am at the stage were I need to remove the head and fix it somehow. What is my best option? - get it machined out from m6 to m8? - use some sorta helicoil..I don't no much about them? - other suggestions...?
polley 916 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Drill out stud, helicoil. Can't see the head needing to be removed unless it's in a difficult location
richard.pykett 36 Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Tom Taylor of Taylor Automotive in Auburn St Grafton - 377-8404. Tom is a clever old fart who has seen everything and does this sort of shitty stuff day in day out. He can come to you if need be and may be able to fix it in place. Give him a call on Monday and I'm sure he will be able to fix it for you. Cheers Richard
