Bazza5er 3 Report post Posted June 25, 2015 I am looking at joining in on my local car clubs racing events and have decided an e36 320i would be a good start. But a 1992 318i has come up for a great price, Was wondering if their is enough of a performance difference to matter or would the 318i be just as good of a 'starter' car. aja540i 1903 Report post Posted June 25, 2015 Neither will be particularly fast, so you might as well get the cheapest one, if you get the 320i you can look at an engine swap later, a 318is would be a good start but they are a bit harder to find, and a bit more involved if you want to swap engines later on.
