ajross.nz 5 Report post Posted June 28, 2015 Hi folks, Can you recommend a good (and affordable place) to take a 10 year old e60 in Wellington? Also I have a recurring fault with active steering. On the display it says 'active steering inactive'. Most of the time it corrects itself and the alert is gone within 4-5 mins driving. Sometimes I have noticed that the steering wheel is not centred and once has been off by as much as approx 35 degrees. I have reset the computer to clear alerts but this one keeps coming back so it's definitely an issue somewhere. Does anyone know of his issue and how to fix or is this something I am best taking to the garage to get resolved? Thanks in advance, Ali

BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 try wheel alignment then reset the active steering to centre , will need a proper scan tool to do it
ajross.nz 5 Report post Posted June 29, 2015 Don't have a scan tool and don't know how to align the wheel unfortunately. I tried googling for ages and there was a few hints like turning the steering all the way to left lock then doing the same to right and then restarting the car but it didn't work. Anyway, still needs a standard service, so I guess I'll take her in for the active steering as well. Should also have mentioned that when active steering is inactive, the steering is hard, not as hard as not having power assisted steering, but noticably harder. I assume this is normal though with AS inactive. @allyballynz
