Etwenty1 45 Report post Posted January 4, 2016 Am looking at possible getting an X5 to tow a trailer for work - ( would rather spend 10-12k on BMW than 20k on a hilux ) Am currently thinking the 99-2002 vintage probs the 3.0L with a sportpac. Any opinions/words of wisdom appreciated - the 3L versus the V8 etc. I am aware that the maintenance costs will be much higher than a toyota etc....... kingkarl 136 Report post Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) 3.0i petrol will really struggle towing. Get the 4.4 - all the torque you will ever need. 3.0d is the most sensible/versatile option but the price reflects that. how tidy is this!? E30 325i Rag-Top 2957 Report post Posted January 4, 2016 3 litre petrol drinks as much as the V8 for normal driving, would suggest would be even worse when towing.
Etwenty1 45 Report post Posted May 25, 2016 Have found a nice 2001 diesel, rebuilt trans and front transaxle. Is that normal for 275km? Would a 2005 be the higher spec engine?
