qube 3570 Report post Posted January 5, 2016 so the key on the e91 we have wasnt working so great and i thought the battery was dying. my dad took the key apart and now we realised it wasnt actually designed to be opened and has what i think is a rechargeable battery thing? does it need to be and can it be replaced? will it solve the issue of weak signal for locking and unlocking the car? do i just superglue the thing back together..? thanks... Gaz 1061 Report post Posted January 5, 2016 If they are sealed then yes they are recharge while you drive. If the battery goes on them then the whole thing needs to be replaced. How many keys do you have and if more than one, is the performance the same?

Gaz 1061 Report post Posted January 5, 2016 Do you use one more than the other? One might be stuffed but if the other isn't being used then it won't charge and go flat. Alternatively, it could be an issue with the antenna which is in the roof spoiler. They get water in there and cause havoc. If the rear window is also heavily tinted, that can cause issues. jin108 25 Report post Posted January 6, 2016 If you have comfort access them is not rechargeable. Otherwise it should charge when engaged in the ignition.
