Question on new 318 / 320 race series.

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have detailed info on the new 318 / 320 series ?.

Will it include models like E30 318is / E36 318is or will it run similar regs to the current UK series eg E30s only 318/320 will 4.11 diff , no 318is http://www.selocmotorsport.com/ .

Thanks

Neal

Thanks for spending the time scanning this . Building costs look reasonable as well.

Something to ponder over the year

Well - Gus and I will build one - know of at least 3 more that are already getting built. One is finished.

Will be a mint series.

Bimmersport Motorsport is what we will race both our cars under - the race car and my race car. Gus most likely driving the e30 spec racer.

Guesstimate an 11g build cost all up.

Andrew ,thats good news , five so far. Whats the mix of engines so far, are builders going for M20's over M40's ?.

Gus ,Somehow I suspect the Le fuel injecton question earlier on is related. B) .

the pick seems to be m20 - mainly for the easy of swap to 2.5 ltr allowing people to get extra power if they want to targa the car.

Is it just the relative rarity of 2.5lt that they didnt use that as the base?

Will this be an LSD free series?

If not, surely LSD prices are gonna go even higher.

Anyone one can have my LSD for 1600. than means only 900 for a quaife unit. Badass.

run by BMW NZ....no def dates. people need time to gauge interest, build cars..i would say next year might run a series with other e30's (but not competing for points)...and the year after having the full number of 320/318s...i may quite possibly be wrong though!

I am aware of about 9 cars being built and a lot of interest, rules are not finalised yet, testing is still taking place, Sounds like it will be fun, I am building an M20 and i know of at least one other 318 so there will be agood mix.

at the moment its going to be my daily driver for the next few months while we fix my daily and afterwards we will begin building it up as a race car around august onward. In the mean time between now and then I am going to looking to organise some driver training, so that I can use my car to its full potential (as well as safely) once it is on the track.

yes all cars are exactly the same spec other than engine wise. I would assume you have to as if you didnt have a cage you'd have an unfair weight advantage.

nah, there seems to be a minimun weight, which can be made up for with ballasts.

so wondering if you have to cage, by reading that, seems you dont have to.

on what tracks is this going to be run?

do you have to be caged?

Yes, you have to have a full cage.
