ABS + DSC + Handbrake Warning lights

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have all three ABS + DSC + Handbrake lights come up at once intermittently on my 2007 E91 BMW.

After a bit of research, it looks like it could be one of the rear wheel sensors.

I have recently changed the wheels from factory 16" to aftermarket 18" and have not got a wheel alignment. The problems came up shortly after changing wheels. Could this be the cause? Or will it be a faulty sensor? Just dont want to go buy new sensors if I just need a wheel alignment.

Also might be worth noting, I bought the car about 3 months ago off a dealer, he had recently got the ABS module repaired and had receipts for it.

Any help appreciated. Cheers :D

are the tyres equivalent sizes(o/a diameter) as the originals and are they close to same diameter front to rear?

Contact your dealer to let them know then take it to a specialist to have a scan done.. could be a few different things... ;) nothing money can't fix

I had exactly same issue after replacing front tyres. INPA said "steering angle sensor" problem, but all 3 amber lights were gone after replacing rear tyres.

If you put back 16", I would think the lights are gone after 3 ~ 5 drives.

I reckon if the alignment is done into spec, and driving 3 ~ 5 times, the issue may be resolved by itself.

Thanks for the replies everyone, the new wheels are staggered 18/8 front, 18/9 rear.

Some research I did before buying:

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=50&diameter=16&wheelwidth=7&offset=34&width2=225&aspect2=40&wheel_size=18&wheel_width=8&offset2=35#isPage=1

I am going to try swapping the original wheels back on to see if it fixes it, if not, might try clean/test/replace rear wheel sensors.

Either way I dont own a jack :( So will report back when I manage to find one and test that out... Cheers

Bump for this,

I have taken the rear wheel speed sensors out and cleaned them, they were not very dirty, didn't fix the issue.

My friend loaned me his code reader, and we managed to get these codes out:

5DF0
DSC: Hydraulic unit pump motor

5DF1
DSC: Hydraulic unit pump motor connector faulty

Looking around the internet it seems this could be a faulty ABS module.

Has anyone ever dealt with these codes before and have some advice?

Cheers
