1990 E30 320I M20B25 adj coilovers + more certed

Recommended Posts

Hi Bimmer fans.

The difficult decision has been made to sell my beloved E30 due to lifestyle changes and the need to finish my E21 320/6 project. I'm hopeful it will go to a good BMW home and I won't have to put it on the Trademe.  So things it has had done. Early high compression M20b25 engine that apparently had some sort of "hot" rebuild years ago while in another car and seems to go very well while looking externally stock. Has good exhaust system, full alloy Fenix performance replacement radiator and simota replacement panel filter. Gearbox is G260 with custom short shift kit (much much better feel than the aftermarket ones) and clutch is a Spec from USA 6 puk carbon ceramic (new thrust and spigot bearing done at the same time) . Has bigger medium case diff from 325i. Has XYZ adjustable coilovers all round. All suspension bushes have been replaced with uhmwpe units from Condor speed shop in the USA and the front control arm bushes are M3 off set for more caster. Also has condor rear subframe riser bushes in the rear to correct camber and toe along with their rear diff mount bush. The engine and gearbox mounts are also uhmwpe from condor. This all adds up to make this thing a joy to drive and it preforms very well. I've only ever done one event that was a Motokhana and I placed 2nd ahead of things like a Lotus Elise and Well sorted classic Mini Cooper but behind a man with NZ autocross titles under his belt so not bad for a young chap without a motorsport back ground. Brakes are just good condition factory spec. Wheels are BBS reps 16x8 p20 plasti dipped mat black. Wheels are originaly grey with polished lip and plasti dip was done when they were brand new so will be mint underneath. Tyres are 205/45 fronts are mint rears are ok and there's a spare pair to fit when they're done. Has leather sport seats in pretty good cond wee bit of wear and tear, dished steering wheel and boss kit also has a new as in 2 year old genuine bmw leather gearstick surround. Some cracks in dash as pictured not to bad. Boot has had the sound deadening removed from the floor to remove 15kg battery has been mounted in the boot with genuine bmw parts. Body is good rust free with minor small dings, scratches and the grey bonnet and guard. Has a BMW South Africa spec sump guard. Car is certed for all mods. Have lots of receipts for service parts I've done while I've had it one big one is replaced the heater core with a genuine bmw brand unit I had to import for $300. Car has Wof and reg(will update with date soon).  Probably some bits I've forgotten and I think I've on to long already so ask if you wanna know anything else. Car is in Oxford Canterbury but I can bring it to Christchurch for viewing during the working week for anyone keen. Pm me to arrange viewing.

Looking for about $8000 can work out deals but no swaps thanks.

Cheers!

Cheers. It's nothing to extreme 1981 320/6 manual got it a few years ago mostly original but came with some slightly lowered springs in it and tidyish but few bits of rust few we dings tha usual. But it didn't run so got it running but never quite ran right. It ended up being a back burner project just did a bit here and there between other things. It's had the rust repaired but some of it hasn't been painted yet. Was going to do a similar type of build as the E30 but it may just be a Tidy up, get running sweet, add cool wheel jobbie now not quite sure.

I am actually looking for an E30 (to convert to a 333i like we get in South Africa). But then on the other hand I am very tempted to make an offer on your E30, but the transport fee will be nuts, close to a $1000-00. :(

sigh....

Oooooor, fly to Auckland for ~$50 and drive it back for probably less than $150 gas, easy trip to do in a day, take SH2 if you want some corners.  Or save the flight by doing a one way transfer and do Auckland and Back over a weekend.

Unfortunately Oxford is down in Canterbury (about 40min out of Christchurch) so you have the cost of the ferry to deal with, extra kms and the time taken. It would work out less than $1000, I've done it in the past flew to Auckland and drove a car back down here, nice road trip but you really have to weigh up the time vs money saved equation. Viskop if you decide you're keen on the car have a think about your costs involved and P.M me a offer you can work with and I'll see if it will work for me.

For some reason I thought the car was in Auckland, I'm still weighing up driving the car I bought in Auckland back to CHCH or transporting it...  about half the cost, but it's potentially time off work etc...  You can put cars on the ferry without a driver, if you worked out an arrangement for it to be delivered to Picton and handed to the stevedoors, I've done the reverse with a car I bought in Wellington, I did a Bus or a transfer car from CHC-PIC.

Thanks Sam. One more question, what's the mileage on this BMW pls? As for your suggestion....(and as Charlie also mentioned)...time off work will be mission impossible - I had to beg to take off over the July school holidays. I'll think about it, get some genuine quotes etc, then I'll pm you directly.

Thanks,

Charl.

It doesn't have the original gauge cluster in it because the speedo was faulty (I think I have the original stashed somewhere so it can come with it) so I'm not sure exactly but it's 200K+ on they body maybe up to 250K. I don't know how many are on the engine, gearbox and diff but they all preform well no excess noise etc I've also seen inside the diff and it looks good no rust or abnormal wear. It's also worth mentioning that I purchased it off a man in his 90's so it'd had an easy life and was stock standard except a cd head unit.

Car is still for sale. If you think $8k is to much PM me with what you think is a reasonable offer.

Since my previous post above, work has ran away with me. But through all this, I managed to score an E30 sedan in very good condition, from a work mate, for next to nothing. So now my project will start.

All the best, hope you get yours sold soon. :-)

Hi all. After thinking about keeping this car for a while I've decided it needs to go so I've put a fresh wof on it and am ready to move it on. Best offer I have so far is only $6500 so if you want a cheap well sorted drivers E30 make an offer that beats that and you may get it.

Cheers
