westnz 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2018 Hi. I'm a first time BMW / Z4 buyer and my front tires will fail wof due in february. Im thinking of going to non runflats because everywhere I read it says it'll be a better ride. My choice at this point is michelin pilot sport 4's as they seem to be a real good tire winning heaps of tests according to http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Tests/#summer. The back run flat tires still have plenty of tread so I have no intention of replacing those at this stage. Is this an ok/legal thing to do? I have a 2004 Z4 3.0i. Thanks. Navin 180 Report post Posted January 14, 2018 I did the same on my 135i, switched from the run flats to pilot sport 4's. Best decision ever, rides so much better. Also i haven't seen the traction control light up once since switching over. Grip is phenomenal, especially in the wet. No regrets at all
M3AN 4016 Report post Posted January 14, 2018 Good choice and yes, you can keep the tyres you have on the rear until they need replacing. Always just make sure the tyres on the same axle match up (i.e. front to front and rear to rear).
