drtimwright 104 Report post Posted February 3, 2018 (edited) Hey everyone, This is for a 1998 328i E36 cabriolet. My front passenger seat doesn't stay forward. Which makes it hard for people to get into the back seat (it's a 2 door cab). I can hold it forward, but that's getting to be annoying Some initial googling tells me it might be the strut inside the seat that's worn out. This makes sense because the driver's seat fair launches itself forward but the passenger one just sits there sedately. However, before I go removing the seat, figuring out where the strut is, and trying to order one, I thought some people here with more knowledge than me might have some other options. Also, if anyone knows how to replace a seat strut, that would be great. I've never disassembled a seat before! Tim Edited February 3, 2018 by drtimwright added car details... allan 295 Report post Posted February 21, 2018 (edited) Any help http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E36-Cabrio/Europe/328i-M52/feb1998/browse/seats/front_seat_rail_mechanical_single_parts/ Appears the strut No 12 do not come as a separate piece. Surely after all this time they must be available in some form also check the compact it may have something similar both have fold type seats. A quick check and it appears the seat base on the cabio and compact are the same L side 52108234795/ 796 right. I managed to find this site to get an aftermarket one: https://www.sgs-engineering.com/gsc3064-bmw-3-series-seat-strut But I'll have to take the existing strut out to check the part number. allan 295 Report post Posted February 23, 2018 Would be interesting to see what it would cost to get re-gassed if at all possible it. As to the 22.79 pound plus freight.
