Yaya_boss 1 Report post Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) Hi guys. I have a bmw E61 525i 2006, have issues with the air suspension. I keep getting level control failure on the I-Drive system. We hear the compressor going but sometimes it's runing but not putting air into the bags and other times the bags will be full but once the pump comes on it seems to let the air out. We have sprayed soapy water all over the air bags and some of the air lines to see if there's a leak, we came to the conclusion it might be the compressor or the control model. any advise??? Thanks. TermiPeteNZ 1318 Report post Posted February 7, 2018 Frustrating. Good discussion on this common issue here: http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/topic/61072-e61-level-control-system-failure/. Also this: http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/f9/bmw-e61-level-control-system-failure-error-t109945/ "failure of the E61 rear suspension compressor is both very common AND very expensive. It all stems from fitment of a cheap crappy hose on the compressor inlet, this allows grit/dirt into the compressor and eventually causes it to fail.If you have this warning, get it into BMW and get it checked out, even if it's only happened once. The warning is usually activated when the compressor takes longer to pump the suspension up than it should and if it's happened once it'll happen again." My general advice is make sure you have a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) 'Warranty' on BMWs where practical which covers you for any expensive scenarios. If you don't have one talk to Jono at MTF Mt Victoria. Note BMW Car Club members (card required) are eligible for a discount. https://www.mtf.co.nz/mtvictoria/ Hope you get it sorted without too much fuss or expense- and please do loop back and let us know how you get on with resolving it.
