325_driver 422 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Hey guys, have a read over this, you may be interested Ive just found an exaust guru, through a mate in tauranga And telling you now, if you want an exaust done, for the CHEAPEST PRICE get it done through this guy, its worth the trip to tauranga. Trust me. The guys called ray, and he works at "exaust and brake". Theres not alot he cant do. And he isnt charging an insane price on the job. ( e.g. pit stop and everyone else quoted 3000, hes quoted a maximum of 720 ) if you interested or would like the number let me know cause im getting the number now, i had a talk to him but forgot to grab his number. Some people may laugh, but the exaust mod im getting when i get round to it. Is, twin pipe to the resonator, then divides into dual twin pipe with some performance mufflers, with some awsome looking tips on the end
Gus 5 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 is that from the stock manifold back? seems pretty ballpark....mine cost 500ish for single 2.5" back with no tips....don't really see why it would cost 3000 why go twin pipe? single 2.25 is good
*sic 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 3k?? wtf. is it dipped in gold? $500 is reasonable a hike in the price would be for tuned headers... but not to 3k, maybe 1k for a good set of headers so total 1500ish..
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 hmmm a good tuned exaust system (depends on vehicle) will start around 3k ... you can spend anywhere up to 10-12k on bimmers. Priced mine up ... I'm looking at 4k :/ including headers.

cainchapman 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Go and get a quote from Ultra-Tuff mufflers in Totara Rd. He does a lot of work for Retro products and was reasonably priced when I asked about modding the 540. You get what you pay for! I'm with Andrew and Hybrid. A good system takes time to design and manufacture.
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 (edited) you can spend anywhere up to 10-12k on bimmers.gogo turbo boost instead. Bang for buck. f**k spending 10-12k on a exhaust..got waste of money? That price is the valve m3 exaust system. Just a idea of what you can goto. The guys over in the US running 550rwhp need such thing to get that power and stay legal (noise wise)Hmmm anything but a waste of money, personally for me,once im running 10psi of boost outta the SC the exaust and air flow over the intercooler (m3 bumpers airdam) this is money well spent. The other main reason we choose these systems is for legality reason and exaust tone to die for... Of corse I'm talking about e46's here. It's quite easy to spent less .. and f**k it up royally sound wise. SuperSprint all the way for me As others have said, you get what you pay for in this department. agreed - although be warned of the unintended powerband movement! hmmm yea, but the AA chipping does brillant job of sorting this out. The dyno'ed torque curve is steap and straight. Edited March 3, 2006 by hybrid
