GNHE60 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2019 So since the weather has cooled off my car has started to be very hesitant on cold mornings, very sluggish under acceleration up to around 3k rpm and then it is as per normal. Was only happening on cooler mornings (they are all cold now) Last week after around 20kms of open road driving the check engine light came on and was misfiring, limped home and gave it a rev in park, light went out and was running fine. Happened again this week but didn't clear up Scanned it and have come up with 2e1d firing #6 and 29d2 combustion misfires #6. Ok. so have swapped coils 1 and 6, havent had the misfire but still really sluggish. Anyone got a few ideas?
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted July 5, 2019 Lots to go wrong on these engines. How many k's? any history of work being done?. Id start by checking the plugs.
GNHE60 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2019 99,500kms, new set of plugs a month or so ago. Has been regularly serviced in Nz since 68kms. Same thing again tonight on the way home... sluggish as hell for 10-15 mins when under 3k rpm, then ok. Accelerated to pass a car, kicked down to 4th, was bogging a little and on the change back to 5th cel came on and started to miss. Got home, turned it off restarted light out and running just fine. GorGasm 563 Report post Posted July 5, 2019 Is it a facelift? Injector would be my next port of call if so.
Eagle 1662 Report post Posted July 5, 2019 Regularly serviced doesn't hold much weight as it doesn't guarantee more than a oil change every 10,000km, air filter cleaned and had fluids topped up. Your car is probably on all the original old components and around the age\mileage where you start getting failures. Id still compare the plugs but a proper having a proper scan tool or a BMW scan system is going to give far more information then a generic code to help pinpoint the issue. We can all guess the problem but there's only so much you can do from the internet unless you want to throw money at. You didn't mention what it runs like at idle when cold.
