So anyway...

Thanks for answering the initial question Conrod.

If theres nothing inherantly(sp) wrong/weak with the ali block then all else is academic.

Thanks for all the other sugestions(I think)Gus deserves a special mention :P

Will be keeping this car ^_^

Whats wrong with turboing your motor? blown Toyota v8s are good most 2jz's/1jz's will make more power for alot cheaper and you can buy more stuff off the shelf for them.

I personally think alloy blocks are not that great. My sr20 is alloy block but its not putting out that higher horsepower,Watching the development of the rayglass datsun they were finding reliability problems with the block the higher they go and castiron evo motors are putting out over 1100hp.

In hind sight I shoulda bought a starion 4g63 block and put an evo head on it.

This week I've seen a friends m52 alloy motor let go and now you can see through the block.very expensive motor to replace!

with VR4 4g63bt pistons and rods and multi point ftw. Sigma 5spd for the box (apparently 400hp all day everyday sweet.)

What let go on your friends motor? Was it caused by a weakness in the block, or was it something such as a rod bolt breaking? Just curious.

Havent pulled it apart to see but it looks like a rod has let go and made a scene.Which is weird as most bmw's are overheated not blown up,but will let you know.
