torin 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2019 Hi Guys I not long ago purchased a 2010 320i Everything has been good so far, just had a service where the brakes were done but otherwise not much so far. A while ago I had an issue where the car would stall when I was in reverse at near full lock - only happened a handful of times and then seemed to have stopped. Now though I the car idles rough for a few seconds and then stabilises. If accelerator applied while running rough the car stalls. As soon as I restart its fine until it drops for a few seconds again. If I leave it when it runs rough it just goes back to normal. Happened very infrequently before, but now on a 1km drive in traffic (no more than 15 minute drive) happened 3 times. I just did a road trip of 1200km and never had an issue so it only seems to happen in trafficI took to local garage and they ran diagnostics and shows no faults - they said theysuspect it needs remapping of some sort?I was hoping someone may have some insight into what is going on. Also any suggestions of good garages that will be able to resolve this without charging a fortune? Thanks heaps!
Jacko 2156 Report post Posted August 22, 2019 Try take it to BM workshop, it likely has a duff sensor or something. Ive seen it before where reseting the adapted map to default solves the problem temporarily.

Hey Jacko I took it to Euroservice and they came up with nothing as well, but suggest replacing sparkplugs and if that doesnt solve it the coils. Seems like no one is really the wiser on it Strange but would love to know what it is for sure and have it repaired
B.M.W Ltd 950 Report post Posted August 27, 2019 (edited) Get someone to check the Sprag clutch on the alternator pulley. When cold, if its faulty it will trigger the front engine knock sensor. If its faulty replace tensioner and alternator pulley at the same time. It won't trigger an engine fault code because the knock sensor is working and doing its job to protect the engine.
