hunter 408 Report post Posted January 9, 2020 Hi Team, I have noted some silver overspray on the textured black bumper trim from a previous respay on my front bumper. What is the best way to remove this? Spot light covers also had some, have cleaned those up wit ha clay and re-spray. The textured surface of the trim needs a different apporach.... andrewm 236 Report post Posted January 9, 2020 A few options 1. green scotchbrite, should do minimal damage to textured plastic trim but if its light overspray should remove it 2. turps on a rag/ with the scotchbrite. Turps isnt a strong solvent for car paint but if it is poorly adhered it will remove. 3. last resort solvent - sparing use of lacquer paint thinner 4. get bumper black flexible paint and spray in light coats to recolour trim 5. get another bit of trim
hunter 408 Report post Posted January 9, 2020 Thanks, trying to avoid 4 and 5 - i had doscounted them for now as last resort. given texture of the trim and coverage of paint option 2 and 3 might be best
jasera94 29 Report post Posted January 13, 2020 Search youtube, some guy had a trick with adding bog to the surrounding area which allowed him to sand down the overspray and keep the rest in tact.. something along those lines.
