Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Forgetting other marques, (and price not being a factor) which BMW 'vert does it for you most? For me, I always liked the E30, but the E46 looks delicious too and has superceded the E30 in so many desirable ways. I've never been a Z3 fan, although the Z4 does appeal. I've never seen a Z8. However, for my tastes (and we're all different), a 645 'vert is about as nice as it gets.
drifty325i 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 i dont know why but the z3motorsports have always done it for me. they have hugely pumped guards, great handling and a screaming
Grant 4 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Easy for me, the 507. It is as classy as vert's get. Cheers Grant
bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Id be the same. I dig m roadsters hard, prefer the m coupe though. E36 m3 verts are pretty cool, not a fan of e46 m3 verts though, just dont look right.
Nic325i 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Not a fan of soft tops full stop, but would prob go for E46. Z4 also cool. Not a fan of new 6 series vert - looks average with the roof up (more average than most convertibles).
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 That's a good comment - most 'verts just look silly with the hood up.

E30stz 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 (edited) Def M Z4haha, saw the unveiling last night. Someone deserves a boot for the curbage being on that car already. Was a nice car, but bmw badge on the side, was a bit too much for me. Looked awesome Edited May 25, 2006 by E30stz

Gus 5 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 Z8, hands down failing that a black MZ4 i like the Merc SL's both the new shape and the one before this one. Hellishly Pimp
*RJ* 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 E46 is a great looking convertable - but not in M3 spec - I wouldn't want a car like that with the loss of rigidity through having no roof. I agree that most soft tops look ass with their roofs up - simply because they can't hold the shape. I have liked the Z4 since the moment I saw one - I think it's a much better looking car as it was designed as a roadster/soft top - not like an E46 etc. where they are simply taking the roof off and re-engineering around the problems encountered. Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2006 I've never seen a Z8 in the flesh, so I'm not qualified to pass judgement on one, but to me, they look nice in the pix, but a bit too 'old fashioned' for my tastes. I'm no fan of old cars.
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 I've thought about taking a Z4 home, but I know what would happen - my wife would just laugh at me, mention something about sad male menopause and tell me to take it back...
BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Males and convertibles stereotypically don't compliment each other. Personally the 645iC. Theres one cruising around Dunedin, Freaking mint.
M3 Cab 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 Unlike most i'm a huge convertible fan. Always wanted an E30 vert, Not a big Z3 fan, Like the Z4 and love M3 convertibles (all models), but BMW wise it would be a 645 or i think it has now changed to a 650. Or would it be a mint E30 M3 convertible With Gus on the merc SL thing but to be truthful if money was no object i would have to go for a DB9 vert or wait the AM V8 soft top. Bullitt 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2006 I saw the Z8 BMW had on display around its yards a few years ago and I really liked that, easily my favourite BMW convertable. Pity they never made them RHD, its a long wait till theyre 20 years old or a very expensive conversion To me theres half a dozen bmw hardtops id place ahead of them though. Its more where I see BMWs place in the market. If I wanted a convertable (and could afford it ) Id buy an elise or an S2000 before any convertable BMW except the Z8 which is irrespective of budget unobtainable (unless your budget includes frequent overseas trips )
nath 134 Report post Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) ok so best convertible ever is a daytona 4 cam, however as far as bmws go..... i have had the stimulating pleasure of driving: z1- i drove a low low low Km's one, so the suede seats werent f**ked, but i bet they rip easy, you have to literally sliiiide in! scary feeling driving doors down z8 alpina convert- fast but cant get used to lhd 645 convert- obese z4- easy+ quick like me z3- tinny m- almost crashed like everyone else e36's- tinny e46's- perfect(ish) e30- cool if power hooded mtech2 FL 645 is poo. arse is WAY too fat and just gross. asian lady car. z4 (3l only) is my fav to drive, 330ci would be my fav compromise... Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 A Daytona 'vert? Really? Way too old for me, but I suppose it was cool in the day: LOL - yes, I know you meant the Ferrari, but what's life without some fun!
localdevdas 2 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 (edited) my fave would most definately be an E46 330Ci convertible......arguably the last of the classically styled BMWs, and had interiors which were worth showing off with the top down. Simply gorgeous......... Edited May 29, 2006 by localdevdas
beemn 50 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 hopefully you can see the Z8 Alpina next to my car
Palazzo 474 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 OK. time to stir it up. I like my car and Williams (Topless), E30 M tech kitted, pref lowered a bit. Bog standard E30s look a little off. The power hood is supposed to be a nightmare on these, so flag that option. Z8? Are you serious? It looks like something Pavarotti would drive, if he could squeeze his fat arse into a car. Z1. Awful. Z3. For women who don't know any better. Z4. Not sure, quite like the look of it, but seems to be attracting the cheescutter cap brigade. E36. Pus in a 318, quite nice in an M3. E46. M3 only please, then possibly squeezing ahead of the E30, but would struggle with the pleasure versus price differential. My 2 cents.
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 localdevdas, I'd buy that car - love it! Normally I steer right away from black cars, but that one :thumb:
localdevdas 2 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 yea same here ay....fell in love with it first time i saw it in person.....looks a LOT better than any other BMW convertible, 6-Series and Z4 included IMO..........
