peter 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 Hi Can anyone tell where I can buy the correct socket set and ring spanners that fit those fancy bmw bolts that hold my bell housing onto the block.
Hartage 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 If you mean the "Torx" type that look like a star, I got my set from Trade Tools, Branches about the country, about 80.00 for the sockets. Both internal and external. And a allen key type set was about 25.00.
bravo 35 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 They are torx head. You need female torx sockets in two different sizes (I forget which two though - sorry). Repco has them but not usually in stock - you have to order them. BNT sells tools - maybe they have them in stock but I doubt it.

bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 i wish most of the normal bolts where torx. they are so much better to work with. Esp the drivetrain and suspension componets. Adjustment to the correct setting with these trox will be easier to achieve. I bought a set of 8 sockets from a moblie tool truck for $70.
Surge 1 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 12 sided sockets will also remove these bolts, as opposed to the usual 6 sided ones.
