treone 648 Report post Posted August 8 (edited) Stopped at the local BMW dealer to get some coolant. Asked the service/parts guy (front desk guy chimed in too) what the recommended oil for e60 m5 is now - said it has changed to 0w-30 (and for most petrol BMW's petrol or diesel). Exceptions being later models and e46 m3. I know there is a whole science behind oil, viscosities etc (which I've tried to understand but will leave for the more smaterer people than I 😎)... but can this be true?! Not sure if I would want to deviate from TWS 10w-60 lol Edited August 8 by treone
Neal 544 Report post Posted August 8 I wouldn’t be so sure with that change. I do run Shell oil ll01 fe 0w-30 I’m my turbo m3 but I don’t think I’d use a thin oil on a higher reving NA M engine. Perhaps check this part number if you can’t get TWS. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-210886-bmw-m-twinpower-synthetic-oil-10w-60-e46-m3-e39-m5-e60-m5-e9x-m3/
