MrA4Awesome 0 Report post Posted October 27 Hi all, will introduce myself proper when I get the car back from the Mrs and take some photos etc. We recently picked up a white 2013 116i Sport, and am already keen on tuning it. This is a second family car, used as a run-a-bout but not a daily. Would like to take it to my mechanic for health check prior to tuning. But my question, after a quick search, has anyone done any DIY tuning with the affordable gear I've seen online from AliExpress? Is it a case of buying a programmer, removing ECU, downloading a file and writing it into the system? Is it worth $1000+ to get it done professionally versus trying to do something for 2-300? Thanks
Neal 546 Report post Posted October 27 Have a look at MHD or BM3 apps for tuning and have a read though on how they work. The initial flash is done via phone / wifi dongle and these ones are a bit more reputable than others. https://mhdtuning.com/products/mhd-super-license-for-n13 https://bootmod3tuning.com/f2x-f3x
charles28 138 Report post Posted October 31 (edited) I tuned mine with MHD, you can easily buy this online and buy an MHD WiFi OBD adapter to connect with the phone app. My 116i now does 0-100 6.29 and 1/4 mile low 14 on my dragy. Stock was 0-100 8.7 and low 16 quarter mile. Edited October 31 by charles28
