Fs: complete m62b46 - if you are going v8 then this is one you want. Out of an x5 4.6is done around 205km, has a few oil leaks as expected. Also comes with 5/7 series oil pump and a non vanos lower timing cover so you can fit a standard alternator which is needed for clearance in you e36/e46.

To be fair, initial post is from February when there was a 1jz but the more I think about about the more I just want something easy to pop in and drive. I'm all for the journey but I'm at the point where I just want to drive and not spend time f**king around making sh*t fit

This is my conundrum too. I still have my eye on M62B46's, as you put its the next most interesting option, but I just checked and the custom engine mounts and wiring harness I had bought/made means an S54 is nearly a drop in replacement instead of the M54 thats in there.
