StylesM5 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) Bit like the early 745i, which had the M88 (I think, 276 HP) with auto. You really want more tourque below 4000 rpm for an auto IMHO. Edited June 25, 2006 by StylesM5

Guest Spargo Report post Posted June 25, 2006 (edited) The 745i in europe was a turbo. Using M102 / M106. The 745i in SA used an M88. You're both correct then. StylesM5 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 Interesting, I always thought the turbs one was a SA invention. Yep, you're right, hence the ~45 demomination, 1.5 x 3 litre turbo = 4.5 litre
bumpstop325 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2006 Theres also one (White)M635csi in NZ with the 'M1' motor in it. The motor had to tilted sideways 10-30 degrees for it to fit. It was a made for the man who first started importing BMW's into NZ. (i believe) Someone confirm this, please?
Guest Spargo Report post Posted June 26, 2006 The M102 / M106 was a german invention. It never was an RHD car engine, as the turbo was in the same place as the steering column would have been, hence the SA cars having to use the M88 to make the same amount of power as the turbo 745i's.
