E28 Manual Conversion

Does anybody want to replace their slushbox with a syncrosmash box? While wandering aimlessly around today I stumbled upon a E28 525 that has a full manual conversion for sale [everything] asking $650.00

Don't know, It was sitting in the corner covered in sh*t [waiting to be cannibalised] I'll ask tomorrow

M20 525 as stated,

[did BMW make a 2.5 M30?]

They did make a 2.5 one yeah - but my bad i'm fairly sure it only came in E12.

its a m30 box. E28 525i were M30. Ill take it if its in good condition

And i said they were M30. I know they are.. Early E34s were M20 and later ones were M50. Thats how they came out. Get f*cked.

they did 525i e28 from 1982 -1987 its a M30 block 2.5L , 525e from about 84/85 to 88 was M20 2.7L( check if it has the dizzy mounted on the front of the cam like a later model e30 325i or e34 525i then its M20, but if its at right angles to the cam then its a m30 ).

if its a 525i m30 i have a freind who wants one .

It's an E 2.7 M20, Simon bought it to flog the box for his E30 [but ended up with a E30 conversion] Even if it doesn't sell the education is worth it! [Nah F**k the Education, the entertainment was worth it] specially Gus & Sparkle, I reckon I owe you guys a beer for that first class humor.

I dont get it.... where can i get all that for $650 ? i'd take 2.7 and 5-stud conversion kits (no need for manual conversion, haha).

Read the first post - he wants $650 for the car.

You can use the suspension parts and do a 5 stud conversion.

The engine is an m20 (same as e30 6-cyl) so you can bolt the gearbox on and use alot of the other parts for a manual conversion.

It is the eta engine which is 2.7L - you use a combination of your 320/325 motor and this one and you end up with a 2.7L motor similar to the ones in the SA 325iS like what Sam has.

All for $650 plus labour and consumables - its a good deal.

yes, i know about stroker conversion. I'm looking for that 2.7 bottom end for m20 turbo stroker build.

so you are saying that rear subframe would fit e30 (does that run 5x120 stud ?) ?

I dont really have a place to store whole car, but i guess if i have no other option then i'd take it lol :)

I emailed that dude, and just awaiting reply....

nah not really, cause he outlined it as as 525, not saying wether it was a "e" or not, me thinking that it was a 525i which were m30, which you argued.

i dont think the rears bolt in...glenn MADE the whole subframe assembly fit with a little persuasion.

rumour has it that the fronts can be used...however you still need to buy the e30 m3 lower part that bolts onto the strut...$450 a side or thereabouts..not cheap!

and a 2.7 built that way is a fair bit different to how sams is put together..competely different pistons
