Driving up to a T-intersection with a stop sign. Proceed to stop and then some Stupid b***h in her 4x4 with a big ass bullbar on the front just drives straight up the back of me. Her excuse "i didn't think you were going to stop", what the hell theres a god damn stop sign right there!

Sparkle will know the place, its notorius for people pulling out in front of 100km/hr traffic without stopping. Corner of Camerons Line and Aorangi Road.

Assess the damage? Whats the best plan of attack? Take it to BMW and get them to mark it up? Possible chassis bent? It was at low speed, just the bull bar did all the damge.

Note: There was nothing wrong with her truck.

Nah the doors open fine and the roof lines straight as.

You gonna sell it/bits if its a write-off?

Aha the first scavenger, heres hoping it doesn't come to that.

I've got Direzza 205/55 because theyr a mint tyre and wear well, they've also got the rim guard on them as well.

I don't think the 55 look too bad, best suited for the 15", just get a 195 tyre on your bbs wheels and they wont look so balloony so to speak.

i only realised today that on the front left i have a 55 and on the front right a 50, hence why my left front gaurd got ripped up a little (angry) when i turned left into my driveway, cos of the bigger trye and too soft suspension, yeah ill look at 195s or getting 50s as id like lower profile i think

stink man. I always come railway road into feilding, when not driving home form work (work on railway road) because of that intersection. so many people get pwnt there....

then again people pull straight out of there in fornt of those coming from bunnythorpe anywho...

hope you can get it sorted!

if you dig the car, which you obviously do, and it's mint as, then refuse to let it be written off. wasn't your fault, so someone else's insurance company cannot write it off unless you let them, by law. don't bow down to the man! you'll get a result

gutting mate, yuh know exac the place. People are always up peoples arses in that intersection. Take it to a good panelbeater and ask them to specifically replace with BMW genuine parts. Flintoff panelbeaters in feilding is good, yet expensive, which dosent matter since you were in the right.

Palmerston North Panelbeaters next to Ian Humphries on tremaine ave that has the purple mini parked outside is supposed to be one of the best in palmy. Total truck spray down tremaine are really good as well. Not always keen to take on cars though. I know one of the owners though so I can ring him if you want.

manawatu panelbeaters, and it's a green mini :P

there's heaps of mint panelbeaters in town, but yuh, these guys would have to be one of the best I'm told. Used to deal alot with the owner's brother, and saw some of his handywork. very awesome. plus they do alot of insurance work.

James & Kingsbeer on fairs road i hear are good

Hope you get it sorted ASAP

Doesn't look to bad at all, looks all behind the rear wheels, as to where the damage is. Was a low speeder?

That really sucks man. If you can get a trailer and want to take a short drive down to Otaki this weekend you can have (for free) my Face lift rear cut. It comes with one light but no bumper. Straight and is cut in a nice place for stitching on the back of your car.

Ring me Kaelib, 021 425264 today to organise or over the weekend on 06 364 3444 and leave me a message.

As a suggestion, take the rear bumper off as soon as you can and remove the Tech 1 spoiler. This will stop it from staying bent. Make it easier to fix.

Sucks man, but don't be suprised if they push for it to be written off - unibody damage and an old car - not always good news.

Unless its really special to you, i'd take the cheque and run.

Agreed - if I was an insurance accessor i'd write that off.

Take the money - buy the car - and build a new one.

Trying to sort stuff out with the insurance people now, but i cant do anything until she files a claim.

Once it all goes through i'll be taking it down to James and Kingsbeer for them to do an assessment on it.

I was gutted she wasnt even hot haha.

I've been mulling things over in my head and if they do try and write it off i'll see how much i'll be getting for it and how much i can buy it back for. A new project wouldn't be half bad.

Make sure you get it done somewhere half decent if its not a write off.

A while ago when some fat maori (not being a dick but thats what he was) drove into the back of my mums truck with his g unit people mover on chromes,we figured it was a write off but they didnt and so insureance paid for it to get fixed bla bla bla.

Took it to some rangi place and they f**ked it up real bad...didnt even match the paint right..i mean it was like 2 shades darker etc.

So dont take it to a whorry place if your not paying for it lol.

Ouch!!

That's a real pity - your car looks mint!

I hope you shopped the stupid bitch to the cops?? Its certainly an offence.

If they do write it off, you can always take the cheque then buy it from the insurance company, of course.

You don't have to accept a write-off assessment. My sister was driving her mint mk I eskie down the road a few months back. Stopped to turn right and was rear-ended at around 80km/h.

The 4x4 which rear ended her was written off. The off-duty cop who then ran into the back of the 4x4 did moderate damage to his van :D . The eskie had a ripple in the roof, neither passenger side doors would open, its f**ked basically, but my sister drove it home. It drives relatively straight.

The guy in the 4x4 was convicted of careless use.

Panelbeater came and quoted $7000-9000 to repair. Insurance company offered $3000 as write-off value.

We refused. Classic car dealer came and vauled the car at over $5000. Insurance company said OK we'll give $5000 and we get the car. We said no. We want it repaired. We want our $7000-9000. And your lucky we aren't claiming for the last 5 weeks worth of hire car that we should have got while you been pissing us about.

Insurance company came back with OK $5000 and you keep the car.

Done.

Moral - don't give in. It might take a few weeks, but at the end of the day, we got what we deserved. Plus now have a mk -I escort ute conversion project :D

You are not at fault - you have a right to be left in the same or better position you were before the accident. Problem is most people back down and take second best.

Is that for careless driving? What would I get from that?

Yeah want be taking this easy im going to get evrything that i can outer this.

If this were to be a write off how would i go about getting the best value for my car.

If i leave it up to the insurance people they'll just call it an old car with high k's and try and give me $3000 for it.

All you'd get is satisfaction.

As it stands, the person who hit you gets to pay a couple of bucks to their insurance company and probably blames you anyway.

Meanwhile, you're all pissed off (rightly so) and are gonna be without a car for a week or so at the panel beaters - or longer if you have to wait for an insurance payout.

Update....

Finally got the claim sorted from her insurance company. Took it into James & Kingsbeer the same day and have had the damge valued at $3700, which they will repair. 95% chance I wont be seeing my car again till after christmas which sucks as the work primera drives like sh*t although there is the added bonus of company petrol card.

Tried to claim some of the electrical problems I've been having the last few months on the crash i'll see what happens.

Worst thing was i'd just spent $430 at Jeff Gray on various things the day before the crash.

Ah well just got to wait and see how it all pans out.

Cheers Mavrick
