just fired up the hartge engine for the first time since rebuild and fitting into my 1990 535i . with the maual gearbox kit as well .

seams to run ok . havn't fitted exhaust yet . its abit loud at 11:30pm .

also have to hook up all the radiator hoses etc , retorque head down .

hook up drive shaft , swap diff over for a LSD unit .

tidy up wiring loom etc .hook up gearshift mech , bleed clutch system , hook up reverse switch wires , short out trans ecu system check wire (so it doesn't say trans error in the dash ).

refit bonnet etc etc ..

all going now , test driving around finished it last night 2:30am .

took it for a test drive .

stuffed the lsd i juat fitted had no oil , been sitting in my back yard for 2years on it back , oil drained out (DOH!!!!!!) .

have had to another std diff in , but all goes well .

just have to get new exhaust system modified and fitted , old one is rusty and someone has bodge a cat in to it 2 pipes to 1 then back to 2 very restricktive .

seams to go ok. will take out to work dinner tonight .

i had to rebuild a engine , used the Hartge head from the grey engine .

used a old block i had lying around , some pistons that came from a e23 735i etc .

built it all up , had block checked and honned , head checked and skimmed , valve grind etc .

fitted a 1989 535i engine i had froma wreck into the grey car , thats sold now ....

yes have cruise control , works well .

no clutch switch though .

only had to do 3 wiring things to swap from auto to manual .

replace starter relay with a bridging relay box (just shorts 2 terminals bypasses the gearslector switch)

short a wire to ground from the trans control box to earth to stop the trans error warning inthe instrament cluster .

and run a 2 wires from centre console to the gearbox for the reverse lights switch.

sorry mate going to get the lsd unit removed and fitted into the diff thats in the car now ...

dawn it just sold a spare lsd diff to a freind as well .
