Recommended Posts

Hey all,

as the title says the computer doesnt illuminate and you can barely read it. Anyone had this problem, is it an easy fix?

Backlight has gone. Never fixed it, but its a case of opening the OBC up and replacing the bulb. Apparently its not straight forward, but doable.

I've been told the bulbs are tricky to get hold of too - 6V rings a bell.

Edit: yup invloves soldering two new 6v bulbs in - link to E30 Network article

Id like to know where to get these bulbs from also, But it may be easier to get a whole replacement light board for the OBC?

use 12v globes and wire them in parallel, have done this mod many times, it is easy. You can get the 12v globes from repco etc.

Give me some time, need to find one of the boards to show the mods you need to do it. Tomorrow maybe?

I take it you know how to remove the OBC in the first place? Or should I include how to remove it?

Or use led's and a resistor - there's a right up somewhere - google it.
