project 328i motorsport coupe

got this car a little while ago .

damage to front lights bonnet etc and drivers side . been deregd .

96 328i coupe 100,000km on the clock.

just an udate ,

got it back from the panel beaters (repaired rear quarter panel and sill)

have fitted replacement drivers door , drivers front guard , bonnet , lights , front panel , and bonnet.

had the front bumper repaired ,new trims and lower mesh grill etc .

dropping it in on monday to get in revinned/complied etc .(hopefully they dont find too much wrong with it)

when its done and road legal will convert it to a 5spd manual .

fit my stereo system,

fit either black leather sport seats and door cards etc or M3 vader seats and interior from my other 92 325i coupe.

upgrade suspension to either koni adj shocks or bilstein sport shocks

17" MK motorsport wheels from my 325i coupe .

smaller motorsport airbag steering wheel,

fit motorsport side skirts and rear bumper

leather seats ,have to do a little seam repair to the drivers seat and also get them redyed a bit to make them look new again also repair the left door card leather insert is pulling away a bit.

or maybe fit the M3 vaders and interior which is in my other car which will be sold when this one is sorted.

Looks nice, they really are great cars to drive in manual. You could always sell that vader interior to me

just a quick update . got the car back today from the revinning crowd ,

just need to fix the play in the steering rack ends/tierods etc ( just fit some new ones i suppose) also adjust right side headlight ,

give the car a full alignment , get the engineer to tick off the repair damage to the right side ,

then buy some plates and reg etc .

so should be sorted by end of next week etc

then off to the painter .

then convert it to a 5spd manual , sort out some nice bilsteins or koni shocks .

fit the stereo system from my other car.

swap the 17" mk motorsport wheels over

swap the seats out for the M3 cloth vaders or the black leather

manage to pick a donar 5speed gearbox kit from a rolled 93 325i .

already had instock a 318is 5spd kit , but would have prefered to use a 6cylinder .

this car came up .

what a mess .

not a straight panel on it .

been rolling and sliding down the road . only one bit of glass was left .

one tail light light and one side light .

engine is fine (apart form a cracked sump ,rocker cover and ali bracket that holds the oil filter housing and brackets for the alternator and power steering pump)

some nice 18" advanti's that need a little loving .

some cloth sport seats ,

nice/rice aftermarket ali gear knob and handbrake handle

why would you bother picking up something like that when there isn't much you can salvage...unless of course its silly money..

why would you bother picking up something like that when there isn't much you can salvage...unless of course its silly money..

i think they survived the drivers airbag went off , the cabin was still pretty much i shape,

just lots of broken glass and lots of scrapes down all over the shell.

yes i normally wouldn't bother with that sort of wreck but it did have a manual gearbox kit (which is what i needed)

car was cheapish , freight was heaps (non runner , non roller ,came up from masterton).

hi , its a vanos engine .only done 150,000km ecu and engine loom set up for 5speed manual

why do you want a nonvanos?? turbo??

i also have another 325i vanos engine m50 still in the car .

yes they do .

m40 , m20 , m50 , m52 , m42 ,m43 ,m44 type engines all have the same bell housing shape .

the difference is that the twin cam, engines lean over a bit more , so the angles are different for the gear lever and mounts etc.

but nothing that cant be sorted .

so got it back from the vinning place today ,

so all new plates reg and wof etc .

so off to the paint shop soon .

then in for the manual conversion .

but having second thoughts or wether to do it straight away ,

as might have some bmw V8 manual 6speed gearboxes coming soon from germany

have a couple of bmw v8's laying around here M62 4.4L non vanos and M60 4L units ,

would be nice to fit one of these engines into this car ,

or maybe the next one i do ??

hi thanks . yes have some side skirts and a motorsport rear bumper to go on whe it goes in for some paint .

i do have another 5spd kit for sale as well.

what would you offer for the vaders ???

more if you wanted to sell the whole 328 once you got bored with it, I could be really interested if it came with a set of vaders and 3 pedals
