    My e39 540i beat a manual legnum vr4 from a stop 3 times in a row. Approx 1 car length ahead, just to give u an idea. Passing on the open road is amazing haha. Best to drive one, if u drive nicely theyre not too bad to run. I spend and extra 20-30 tops on petrol than I used to in my e39 528.

    only ford/holden ive played with is a new xr6 turbo and i didnt stand a chance lol he started pulling away rapidly

    cars a 96 540i with the 4.4 V8

    On really hot days it drives perfectly then dies randomy. twice coming to a stop, once driving at low revs, no spluttering, just quietly dies, I think it may be a loose wire/plug/sensor due to it only happening when it gets really warm weather wise.. the wires get a chance to move more.. where would I look to check?

    Any other ideas or common issues to do with it?

    Idle sits on the idle line on the tach, looks to be 500ish RPM, would raising it temporarily help stop this at all.. just xmas is a hard enough time of the year without paying for the car to be fixed lol

    It will be going in for a scan due to it having a mechanical warranty, meaning im not able to mess around with it myself, so please dont tell me to scan it.. ill be doing it soon lol

    I only skim read it because its gonna be a big CAR vs Bike,

    Cyclists arent perfect either.. and unfortunately cyclists may go on and think they have the same rights..(should start paying rego tbh stir the pot some more :P i joke i joke) but you've got to ride with the mentality that it's 1 ton car vs 80kg little old you.

    I Used to bike to school.. I know where cyclists come from! I saw many kids knocked off bikes etc! but to be safe its easier to just watch yourself and assume people havent seen you etc.. would rather be like that, than all proud as f**k hitting peoples cars to wind them up more, I have the same rights as you motorists so respect me,

    the people that get in a cyclists way just dont give a sh*t so it's upto the cyclist to watch his own ass rather than rely on a dickhead with sh*t for brains

    there is ALWAYS the cases where you can be as careful as you want and some muppet still hits you... and it sucks but this is the world we live in..everyman for himself as a cyclist.

    EDIT: and before anyone has a whinge and says i'm not being sympathetic or thats stupid etc i'm only offering another view. not saying dickheads hitting cyclists is right at all!
