Thanks for the suggestions, I'll probably do the lock rebuild as suggested by etwenty1 which seems to be the right way to go though I might also consider putting an alarm for the keyless so I don't bang up the locks as well.

Thanks etwenty1 will buy one of those rebuild kits. One other question though is that am i right to assume that the bigger key (left) is the master? If so, how come this cannot deadlock the door but the spare (right) can?

Sorry for the confusing description. So the key on the right is the only one working on the drivers door to lock via "deadlock" as you specified. Does this mean that the lock switch is broken on my drivers door? Locking works on both keys via passenger door and trunk btw.

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out my keys. The one on the left looks to be the real/master key which works on all doors and ignition except for the locking of the driver door.... The right one works on all doors and ignition and can lock the driver door. Now the thing is that the right key can lock the driver door only by twisting it an extra notch which looks to me is like a manual override of some sort rather than just using the central locking system. Is there a fault here that I can fix? I assume my keys are from the same car as they work on everything.. What would the possible issue be with the master key and the driver door? Yes, that's the one. 6 of them all in all in my 320i. Sorry not sure what it's called as i thought that it was ignition cables/wires. Any idea where i can buy them cheaper? I'd really want new ones as I want to be sure they are in good working order as I slowly restore the car to its former glory.

Hi Guys, Does anyone know where to buy ignition wires for my E30? I've got a quote from jerryclayton and it roughly costs $700 for the whole set!! Is that standard pricing or is there a better place to get them? I've also tried Euro-Italian and they don't have em for the E30. Hi guys, I was considering buying some shocks & Springs from the USA (Ebay, etc) as it "seems" cheaper, but does anybody have any experience shipping it down here? I assume we would get charged GST when it lands so that will have to be taken into account but including shipping and GST will it be cheaper? I was basically looking at some H&R sport springs for my e30 so was just checking out prices all over. Cheers

Pretty limited choice at supercheap, what's a good brand to go with in regards to oils and filters? I used to go with Castrol GTX for oils, is there a better option?

Hi guys, I've got an e30 and was just wondering where everyone buys their parts? supplies (Oils,etc)? tools? and whatever else needed to work on cars? I've got the standard tools ages ago from repco/supercheap but thought people here might actually have better places in mind to buy these things? Hi guys, Been a member for a few years when i cause i got an e46 (but eventually sold it as couldn't stomach the petrol cost for it as a DD). I just got an e30 from Dunedin recently and she's a beaut! It was posted by antil33t at the "for sale" forums and basically ended up asking him to have a look at it for me after which decided to buy it and bring it up to Auckland. It's NZ New 1986 320i, 1 owner, and manual. Has about 149k's and runs like new (almost). Paint and interior is pretty clean, and everything seems to have been maintained well. I will probably start to change some things around to make sure everything is up to scratch. Noticed that the brake fluid looks pretty old so will be starting with that. Anyway, here's a pretty bad photo of it after the first wash. Hoping to get better weather soon and be able to get some photos some place nice. See you around guys! PS: might think about a build/restoration thread if i decide to do anything big (not a lot of $$$$ atm though).

It is my daily driver! and it is blue not black even though i wanted a black one hahaha I was really thinking about the clear indicators though, I wasn't really sure if they would look better or worse as I've had mixed feelings about them. I'm actually thinking of getting a newer stereo which is nz compatible as the current one is japanese. By newer I mean like the OEM one with AUX port and MP3 Support Any suggestions on how to maybe increase driveability? I feel I need more kick as it's only a 320, although i do like it in sports mode (yes i know its a tiptronic hehehe)
