  1. well i chopped the cats out and removed the trumpet from the airbox and woooow what a difference!!!!!!! goes much beter, im still not convinced its 286hp cheers guys jeremy
  2. i was after the faq that tells you comon faults and how to fix them, i found one for my old vr4 and fixed the leaking capasitors myself. i think ill have to make a day trip to chch and get it scaned and dyno'd its running ok now still a bit lacking down low and doesnt feel like the beter part of 300hp when i picked it up i filled her up with 95 octane then read the manaul that states i need a min of 98 so i put 1/2 a tank of the good bp stuff plus a bottle of octane booster and its slowly getting quicker maybe a sticky vanos? and echo complex i didnt call you about your m3 and yes my 325 is quick (low ratio diff /uk import) cheers jeremy

  4. yea i drove it as fast as i could around the interislander ferry terminal and yes its the black one with 18's on tardme i filled it up with 95 and read in the owners manual that states it needs a min of 98 so i toped it up -3/4 of a tank- and added octane booster i also removed the cat converters today and its running much beter but still not what i expect does the vanos ever play up on these are the jdm ones detuned so it wont disgrace their cars? is there any GOOD faq sites on these? i spent 4hrs this morning looking at pages about the yanky detuned models that makes a whooping 240hp i cant find anything on the jdm version mechaincly its fine clean filters good plugs ect it just seems restricted and theres no dynos around here lol not everyone lives in auckland cheers jeremy
  5. hey all after not being able to find anything for my e30 325i i forked out 20k for a very tidy e36 1995 m3 its done 83,000ks its a manual jap import and its sluggish! what little power it has comes in after 5,000rpm it would be bugger all faster than my old 325, in a straight line its actualy slower than a standard 94 vtech prelude it seems to run fine, no noises or smoke is the jdm modle detuned? maybe i was expecting to much from the mighty m3? any idears? cheers jeremy

  9. hey all ive been searching on the site, sending endless pm's and still cant find what im looking for any way ive got a 89 318 auto sedan (another tui billboard!) running 325 mspec motor, box and running gear and im after a full mtech 2 body kit or replica kit i dont want to import anything from overseas does anyone make or import these? thanks in advance jeremy
  10. hey there ive got a 89 318 auto running a 87 m325i manual motor and running gear i did the conversion in a weekend, all straight forward and all bolts up wirings easy if your going to do the conversion youd be beter off getting a doner car, youl need the drive shaft, manual conversion kit, full exhaust and alot of fidly bits i honestly wouldnt bugger around fixing the origanal i payed $1000 for my doner car. good luck jeremy
  11. its done 200,000ks and sat around for a long time i set the vavle clarences according to my repair manual its loud, sounds almost like valve clearances at road speed you can hear them over road noise it just seems odd for the 2 middle injectors to tick ill swap them around tomoro and see how i get on edit- injector resistance is correct
  12. hey there i have a 87 m325i with m20b25 motor and it sounds like it has noisy injectors, ive used a stethoscope to pin point the 3rd and 4th injectors ive set the valve clarences twice and the noise is still there it sounds like i have a sicader orgy under my bonnet ive put heaps ove injector cleaner through the tank and it made them worse if anything is this a common problem? any ideas? cheers jeremy
  13. ive out a prefacelift 325 motor and box in my lil 89 318 everything bolts in as you know i think i had to use the 325 drive shaft and 318 center bearing the round plug on the fire wall plugs in fine then under the dash hook the 2 green wires together and it will run hook the other 2 up (guess, there only for tach an economy gauge) and also for your neutrall start switch hook the 2 green wires together on the auto selector leaver and i did mine over 2 weekends lol good luck jeremy

    Wont Start

    you didnt get it wet by anychance did you? my 325 dies if the engine gets wet yet the dizzy cap has no moisture it will crank over and fire like its running on 1cyl also wont start if i leave it out side and theres a frost ill look into it in the weekend top up our oil? jeremy

  19. had it running today!!!!!!!!!!!! turns out i had the fuel lines around the wrong way ya get that when you have to install a motor that you didnt remove anyway now im just looking at the radiator section i want to use a later modle set up so i dont need the ugly overflow bottle so who can sell me a radiator and bits? thanks jeremy
  20. well its a bit hard seing in the dark with a cellphone light but coming of the 325 loom i have green, black with blue stripe and a white on the 318 loom i have a green, purple and a brown thanks

  22. ohhhh i dont want to be buying more stuff lol can i just cut and join the 3pin plug that goes from the key (im guesing) and into the wiring loom just to get it running? thanks
  23. hey all ive got a tidy wee 89 318 equiped with slushbox and a 87 325 manual thats had a rather large smash in the teeth (the rest of it is up for grabs in the forsale section) we all know the lil 1800's a bit lacking so im doing the big swap ive got the motor, gearbox and everything else bolted up the only hassels were the drive shaft center bearing has diferent hole spacings and installing the manual pedal box ive just swaped the engine loom over, went to plug the ecu in and the lil 3 wire plug is different now what do i do here? the wires arnt even the same colour do i have to swap the dashes over? im also a wee bit stuck on the radiator part seing as my radiator was pushed around the viscouse fan its a bit useless can i use a facelift type radiator with the overflow bottle on the side? if anyones got a 325 radiator and or oilcooler send me a pm thanks in advance i cant wait to get it on the road!!! jeremy
