BMW have always focused on the sportier side of driving experience and have had a long and illustrious career in the motorsport world.
Lexus aka Toyota build luxury barges, as Clarkson would say, (altezza or IS series may be allowed a small exception).
Two ends of the spectrum as far as I am concerned. Lexus have gone after the Mercedes (older gent) market anyway.

How bizarre is that
Yes it still has the red holden dealer rego card holder in it, plus I spoke to Bruce Kirk before buying it off the guy in Taupo. It is a very nice example. Did a Lemon Check anyway just to make sure it was all okay, which it was - and it did detail something like you are referring to.
Thanks for the story - it fills in some of the history of the vehicle for me which is great

yep thats right - orange on the earlier cars. Think all the Evo's had clear.
Yep got the one that was being discussed earlier in this thread

Oh right 1066 country.. sounds rural haha!
The white Warsteiner one that was driven by Robbie Franceveic was it not? Was damn mean anyway!
Oh yeah, we're (BMW Power - Emma and SkylineObsession, Andrew) are organising some cars for infeild display for next years event on Sunday 25th of Feb.

1066 = old country, battle of hastings and all that.
Thanks - yep he wasnt as quick as Jim Richards tho.
Not sure I can get down to dunners again given work commitments but definately good to get some local BMW presence there (apart from the dealers that is)

The red E30 M3 was at Puke for the BMW series. Man that car was tits
From memory I have to agree - think the white Warsteiner car was the best of the E30 M3s there.
Blue one was not too shabby though.
-
Haha mint! Cheers mate. You don't live in Dunedin do you?
Was down in Dunners working for the Vodafone Foundation with the Yellow Eyed Penguin Trust for two weeks earlier in the year. But my usual stomping ground is 30kms north of Auckland in Red Beach. Although further back in history Im from 1066 country

I see that the BBC2 have indefinately postponed the airing of the new season of Top Gear (meant for airing in 3 weeks time). They won't resume filming until Richard Hammond is 100% fit and part of the show again.
Damn, I was looking forward to the new season too.
Cheers
Grant
All we seem to get here are re-runs of re-runs with the odd new episode thrown in for good measure. We never get a whole season to my knowledge - maybe they dont have a big enough wallet? My brother used to tape them and send them down from the UK - without all the ad breaks (cos its BBC) and there were loads of them.
Anyway - roll on the 3 musketeers and TG!

Here is an old pic of your M3 (on the right)
Hi mate - wanna give me a clue as to how you have a shot of my car
Thats a bit freaky - how did you know it was the same one too
-
"Oh and for the curious ... the CSL wheels are "A LOT" lighter than these BBS ..."
beat me to it - was going to say that they are bound to add some weight. You'll have to get the passengers to walk or find something else to sling out.
Remember the CSL howl when Top Gear reviewed it on the Isle of Man I believe.
Great motor mate - very envious.
-
Yep as everyone has said 4door M3 Evo does exist. Plenty of them in the UK I recall, made them for just a year or so I believe? Wait till the exchange rate gets better against the pound then import one if you fancy it.

These did the rounds a while back and the official site www.bmwfilms.com has been taken down, but here are some that have survived http://www.chasingthefrog.com/BMW_Films/bmw_films.htm
My favourite is Star. Clive Owen is great in these - so cool!
Enjoy

Heard that he will make a good recovery now. May put a bit of a halt on the filming schedule though. Hamster gives JC a bit of stick like most of us would want to.
Loved the show from wayback.
Get well Hamster.

Ah Daytona Violet It's a nice colour. In the pic the tips really look crooked (one up, one down, like a mount is loose or something) instead of just being staggered, I've never seen staggered tips give that effect. But maybe it's the angle at which the picture was taken.
Thanks mate - see what you mean now, will have a looksie today.
-
yep Daytona Violet
The tailpipes are slightly offset, i.e. one is slightly shorter than the other one. It goes with the curve of the bumper.
