  1. the small rectangular metal plug is the stacker plug, in most cases unless you have a metal box in the back under the stacker you wont have an amp. the speaker wires are the ones that are twisted and are blue and yellow in colour, permanent is red with a green stripe or just red, purple is accessories, brown is ground, white is antenna trigger (be very careful as some white cables with a stripe are the data bus wires and if connected you can damage the vehicles computers). grey is ilumination that may help a little bit
  2. That explains alot, thanks Kerry, now I feel like a moron lol
  3. Yo, I've been reading a few threads on other bimmer forums ... about the onboard computer and what it can display etc http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170772 Now I have tried the codes and methods in that thread but nothing works, My car is a 95 E36 320i. Have any of you fellas played around with this?
  4. Brand new KYB shocks aren't decent? ... not what I have read/heard and been told!
  5. Right, after todays ride I reckon I need to get new springs, at times the ride was all over the place, I want it stiffer, twas quite bouncy ... no wheel rubbing except when cornering tight and fast ... if I got some decent quality H&R springs would it stiffen it up a little bit? These Jamex seem saggy as sh*t.
  6. Hi Kerry, when I had the wheels put on I had the new springs which are Jamex LOW put it in, and brand new KYB shocks all round, the standard shocks were pretty damn hammered after 70,000k of abuse. Do you think If I get better tyres (such as 30s or 35s which will be thinner to the current ones that will get rid of the rubbing to some extent? Going for a trip up to Mokai Gravity Canyon near Taihape with the mrs today so it'll be a good test on the open road with the new susp etc, I'll post back later.
  7. Yeah, I get that in the back .. with just one rear passenger, gets pretty annoying hearing it rub over every little bump. maybe I need to ditch these shitty saggy Jamex springs and get some Kings ...

    My new bmw

Nice ride dude, how much did it set ya back?
  9. Jacked it up, springs are tight as a nuns .... they don't move at all, I think its just all in my head
  10. This new muffler twin tip is pissing me off .. too fricking loud, I forgot to get the old exhaust back from the shop and they have since binnned it ... just looking for the single ended pipe with muffler and pipe that leads back to about the middle of the car. Not to sure what price I'll be looking at paying ... just shoot me a pm if you have something, cheers!
  11. Yea not sure, when I jacked the car up the springs appeared to be sitting in/on/set in some kind of low rim shaped bowl or something (cant figure out how else to explain it??) The place that did the wheels was Mayhem Performance, but the fella that owns it gets his workers/mechs to drive the cars up to his old mans work which has been in business god know how long in town .. its called Levett & Mooney IIRC. Would I be able to tell whether the springs are seated properly/captive just by having a look around?
  12. On the subject of my car leaning to one side .. i just had a quick measure (from guard to bottom of tyre) .. the right front seemed to be about 1.5-2inches lower than the opposite side, I jacked the car up to have a look around and it looks all sweet .. when I put it back down off the jack and measured the other side it was the same height/lowness on the other side, so its wierd .. its like it settles down on one side or some bullshit - but then it only rubs on the right so f knows. The rears of both equal heights. I dont know what the f**k is going on.

    My E36 320i

Yeh thinking about changing it back to standard eh, I gotta raise it up a lil at the front... tyres are getting a bit chewed up on the left (which for some reason the car leans to the left - fuel tank?) lol.

    My E36 320i

Yeah, twin tip, its a bit loud which I'm not happy about, being an auto and all ... but meh, clear indicators are one the way from Mrs Santa (I hope!) ... tints are on the cards, but not sure when, gotta get the front ride height raised a little before I do anything else - hopefully it'll just be a case of slipping in some little spring packer things (forgot exact phrase) just needs to go up about 25mm or so. Cheers for the sweet comments

  20. I pulled up the drive today, paused for a moment, had my window down (to listen for the noise) and the air conditioning was on, fans click on (you can hear them pretty good) but there is a faint rattle coming from underneath the front of the car around where all the belts are by the fans ... I jacked the car up, turned it on and had a look but couldnt see anything unusual just heard the weird rattling, any ideas what this could be? Cheers fellas!
  21. Thanks for the helpful advice guys, please don't turn this into a flame the newbie f**king idiot, leep things ON TOPIC FFS. Anyway - yeah quite a few people ive been tlaking to have said go to John Bates, which is what im going to do after xmas, can't afford sh*t all right now, f**king christmas presents and all that stuff. 3pedals - want to follow up to 318isCoupe's message? thanks.
  22. Yo, I think I used a 2mm allen key, flick open the little tabs, unscrew, then rip that mother outta there.
  23. Had the guards done today, rear is all sweet now, alot more room I think, fronts are still borderline, I think I'll just get the standard springs put back in because its too low with the big wheels and still rubs when I corner, thanks for the adivce guys.
  24. I have just also noticed, the front left side seems to be a bit higher than the right - the wheel on that side hasnt been rubbing, as there are no marks to indicate this on the tyre (like on the right which has bits chomped off) is it normal for sh*t to be like this? Wonder if I should go back to the place, tell them all these issues and tell them to fix it. nicely? I dunno.
  25. Yeah not too happy about that, I thought most places who deal with wheels etc should know what is best for which car, that f**ks me off. Dude at the panel beaters reckons I wont get a warrant the way they are now
