2008 Top 10 least (and most) fuel efficient cars
greenday-rulz21 replied to trev0006's topic in Off-Topic
Yep, but theres another 4wd merc, -
Thought the old gun metal 325 was one of the hottest e36's i had ever seen, big respect for the tasteful mods. But I have to say the new one is just fantastic too. ^^ I have to agree with Em, German plates look great on e36's. Cheers

This calculates how far out your speedo is with original and new tyres on. btw, very nice 318!
-
Welcome, Nice 540 you have there. BTW, Love the wheels!

Dakar yellow was originally released on the Motorsport E36 as an option, then it was also an option on the Z3's. You could also find an E46 in Dakar yellow as well, but its very rare.

Theres always going to be someone who doesn't like it. But then theres going to be someone who thinks its unique. Keep it how you like it.

Nice shots mate. totally agree, they were pretty average. Saw them from my back yard, a couple people were trying to compete with the sky towers, and I have to say, a was probably watching theirs for longer

Looks great! Have to say the yellow really suits the M3...

One of BMW's best-kept secrets
greenday-rulz21 replied to greenday-rulz21's topic in General Discussion
"The Prototype has never been road safe (even the headlights were missing as you can see in the picture) and was only loosely patched together, which is the reason why it is not presented in their museum. It's not even good for that ...says BMW." -- e31.net -
e39 overheating - overhaul cooling system?
greenday-rulz21 replied to tonylauno1's topic in Maintenance
Is it leaking or been leaking any coolant? Smoke or steam? -
why do people put M badges on non M cars?

The Galant AMG was released in Japan during October 1989 and production ended in late 1990. So it couldn't have been the real deal. -
Just a little bit of history for ya. One of BMW's best-kept secrets is the canceled BMW M8 Prototype. Originally envisioned as a Ferrari competitor, only a single prototype was ever produced, equipped with a special 550 bhp (410 kW) version of the S70 engine, essentially a bored out version of the M70 with experimental multi valve cylinder heads. A common misconception is that this engine eventually ended up in the McLaren F1. However, when this was suggested to McLaren's designer Gordon Murray, the idea was rejected because the engine was overweight and too long for the McLaren F1. A whole new engine was designed which has a closer resemblance to the later euro S50B30 BMW M3 engine. The project was eventually scrapped because BMW decided that there was no market for an M8. The only prototype ever produced (one that was reportedly not even road safe) was locked away by BMW in the company's Giftschrank (poison storage) and has reportedly been destroyed. Absolutely no one must see it or can get information, by order from the general manager himself. Questions from motorsport magazines remain unanswered as well. Yes, the papers of an 850CSi say, it's an M8, but that's not of much use if you know what it could have been. What the S70 engine is capable of speaks for itself. See the world record run of the McLaren F1. The guys at McLaren say they could get 1000 hp at 9500 or 10000 rpm from the engine. The different versions of the S70 engine: S70 5576 ccm 380 hp, 24V, 850CSi 1992 S70/1 about 6000 ccm 550 hp, 48V(?), M8 prototype 1990 S70/2 6064 ccm 627 hp, 48V, McLaren F1 1993 S70/3 6064 ccm 635 hp, 48V, McLaren F1 1996

Don't know if this site could help at all, www.nznew.co.nz They specialize in importing any car for thousands below dealer prices.
-
They come up every now and then, saw one down at St Luke's this afternoon. Just have to play the waiting game. Keep an eye on Turners.co.nz, and of course on Trade Me. Carspot.co.nz is a forum sponsor and I believe they can actually bring a car in for you. Jerry Clayton's pre-owned division on wirau road usually has a good selection of E39's, but are worse on the price side of things. Jerry Clayton do give mechanical warranties as well, you can also choose to extend it.

Forgot to say that xenon headlights came out around '02, which is a large improvement over the standard halogen bulbs in the pre-facelift. Xenon puts out a white light instead of the yellow of the halogen. The angel-eyes also look fantastic.

Don't know if you've seen This one. Its black, but might be getting a bit old for your preferences. I personally quite like the white, but opinions around the forum would be quite mixed. Its kind of a love hate sort of thing. The 2002 White 525 is quite well spec'd from the looks of things; the glass sunroof, t.v - nav, telephone, suede seats (which really holds you in around the corners). Rain sensors, headlight washers, PDC, rear blind, are just a few things to look for. Which I don't think this one has. Cruise control came pretty standard. Just check whether its a Jap import or a Singapore import. Nick

Heres a couple that were on trade me, #1 #2 #3, All around the same price, 25k, and I wouldn't think you'd get a better example for under that. I've had experience with a couple E39's (520 & 540) and IMO they're great cars, with great handling. Most of the problems with most cars in fact are around the 100,000km mark, so you shouldn't get it and then have heaps of problems for you to fix. A couple problems i've experienced in the E39 are with the cooling system. The 540 has pretty much had the whole cooling system replaced, radiator, expansion tank, etc. Luckily it was under a mechanical warranty. But that all happened well after the 100k mark (about 150k), so it's not something you'd need to worry about in a relatively low km example. Good luck and welcome! Nick

Merry Christmas all. Been a great year! Cheers

Now thats what all V8's should sound like! Fantastic
-
Hah, Thats great!
-
Yea, aren't they E36 M3 Evo wheels. 3 series and 5 series offsets are different so you would get problems with fitments although spacers might fix that (correct me if i'm wrong).

Have to say the R8 is #1 for me, although there are others there that are pretty nice! (GT2)!! E: Spelling
