One of only 2 made here in NZ - the other one is on ex-Mike Eady's E92 M3 race car. This is the second one that was in the process of being made for my car before I ended up selling the car. It is half complete but can be finished in 2 weeks time once a deposit is received. Dimensionally correct to the real thing - the main plane of the wing is taken directly from the WTCC rear wing which is what the M3 GTS wing is based from - the uprights are moved outward - the actual positioning distance was measured off a real GTS wing (from a friend in Germany) - the uprights are also done on the correct GTS template. The end plates are not 100% accurate, but very close. This will be the last one made and that's it. Aluminium construction with structural foam like the WTCC wing - almost identical in weight also to the real thing. Please note the wing is primered not painted. 53kg rear downforce $800

Some seriously good feedbacks and suggestions on here!! Making the decision even harder haha!!! Going to go take a look at a few more options before I commit. I think we all want the best money can buy, but there's obiously a practicality element here. As with anything, there will always have to be compromises. Just one more question - Sumake ones from Sulco - anyone have experience with these? The Ash air ones look really good spec wise Ray - thank you - might see what sort of deals they can do. Cheers all!!!

Really appreciate all the great suggestions and opinions everyone - learning a lot as I go!! Went and checked out what the local hardware stores had - are Air Command or Remington Air any good? Seems they have quite a good range of compressors that seem to have much better quality fittings and FAD volume than the SCA compressor I was looking at above. Seems like the old saying buy once, buy right might be the way to go on this! Had a look at second hand Marquip .... hmmmm maybe if I was to open a shop I might spend that sort of money!! There must be like a mid range model some where? Sure Julian - happy to do a bit of spraying!!! If you trust an amateur like me : P

Appreciate the feedback Chris and Reed, mighty helpful. I might pop into supercheap to have a look in person and then decide. Just seems like a really good deal for what you get in the kit.

Okay am looking at getting a small compressor for small odd jobs around home - little spray touch up painting, perhaps some rattle gun work, tyre pumping ect ... Not going into trade of course, so don't need or want to be spending thousands on an industrial compressor. Saw this special with supercheap and it seemed pretty decent for what I might need it for - any feedback or reviews on one of these?? Or perhaps other suggestions on what I should spend my money on? Advance appreciation for all advice given! http://catalogue.supercheapauto.co.nz/offe...ssor+Combo+Deal

Piece of duct tape on the end of a long wire? I've fished a lot of stuff out of odd places with this method. Can you post a photo of the dent on the bonnet? Most can be popped out to almost perfect provided it is no larger than a golf ball - but from your description it sounds more like a raised crease more than a indentation?

Thank you

Thanks Darin (not sure if I met you either, spoke with quite a few people today and I am terrible with names!!) - The car is actually in 'driving spec' believe it or not, so the good parts weren't actually on the car at the moment ... I better not hijack another one of Julian's threads otherwise I'll be buying him coffee for the remainder of the year haha haha I was about to say you could simply change it with windows paint with a cut and paste function !!!! ^ Love that maroon look you posted!!

Great photos ... do you mind if I share these on other forums?

The kid's smart ... it doesn't have a BMW badge on it so he doesn't want to be seen riding it

Time to update your signature Julian!

Damn it ... kicking myself now for not attending this! Looks like BMW AG brought out the big guns for the group! I guess when you win this often, the trophies are only good for one thing haha: At Schnitzer ... they were given access to these DTM Monsters that were being prep'd for the next race. Them leaving a hotel in Salzburg:

I have the following two that I use for different purposes: Powerbuilt 3 ton low profile: (the only one I would ever buy from Powerbuilt, the rest are rubbish) I was recommended this one from a friend that owns a workshop - they abuse theirs extensively and leave a car lifted on it overnight and it still sits at the same height the next day without any sign of lowering - it lasted a good 7 years of heavy workshop use and abuse before it finally gave up and stopped working correctly - they had the seals replaced and it leaked again and ended up buying another one of the same to replace it. I have had mine for about 7 years with light use - in my opinion it is a really good jack for the price - low enough to get under almost anything and long enough to reach the subframe pick up points on the back of E46s - it also lifts high enough. Usually if it needs to go higher, I lower it on stands, add a block of wood and jack again - easy. This is the other one I bought two years ago from tradezone - it is part alloy and part steel http://www.toolandindustrial.co.nz/shop/it...50kg-as-nzs/17/ I find this to be quite a nice jack to lug around. The importer has seals and rebuild parts readily available and it has good rating and construction. I've had an all alloy jack from BNT and trademe in the past and they were all rubbish - broke down and leaked after a few month of use - worst still you usually can't find the correct seals to rebuild them. If I could I would probably buy this one if you can only afford one jack and want a light weight one to lug around: http://www.toolandindustrial.co.nz/shop/it...ack-1900kg/125/ I've had a play with that one and it is very nice with good fast lifting - but it was simply a bit too dear for my liking (I know guys that own workshops that have this one and they all rave about it). I also find if you do a lot of work under the car you really need 2 jacks - one easily maneuverable, so you can use it when under the car and one heavy, sturdy and low profile in order to reach jacking points. One day however I would like to buy one of these: The Rolls-Royce of Alloy Jacks... http://www.brunnhoelzl.com/low_profile_jacks.html

Couple of more from their MStudio Tour hosted by BMW AG where 2 of the original M3 CSL development engineers accompanied the group and answered all questions about the M3 CSL and its original development. The group was also told that the M4 CSL is being developed right now and it is suppose to be quite a step up from what the M4 will be. BMW AG also brought these cars out for them to view up close and personal ... Man I wish I was there!!

Bumping this back up - at the BMW World yesterday!!

I actually disagree with that statement. From my experience and what I've seen from overseas packaged tunes, turbo/supercharger kits ect - none of them work properly in New Zealand - mostly due to the poor quality fuel we have and the different DME program used as an initial starting point. In addition, the cheapest replica CSL airbox out there at the moment is the Geoff Steel racing unit and then prices go up quite significantly from there. Add shipping, GST on top and you are looking close to $3000 just for an airbox. In terms of $ per hp, the airbox is a bad idea if I am honest - if you are after horse power then forced induction is the way to go for this motor - if you are after noise, then not much beat the CSL intake (or a modified stock airbox that's starting to become quite popular in the States - it basically takes the concept of the CSL airbox and a modified stock plastic unit - quite clever actually and easy to make work). I agree this isn't for everyone - at the end of the day I am just offering this up for someone (or a group of people) capable of doing it to do it - if no one can or wants to it doesn't bother me at all. I am indifferent, just giving the community an opportunity - not often you get a genuine box to mould or scan from (at least not when the real thing is $8.5K+ just to buy) - what I was hoping at the end of the day is perhaps for kiwi ingenuity to create something just as good at a fraction of the asking price of what all the overseas retailers are asking for such an item.
-
There's not really any point in doing that when we have access to the mould for this ... Here's what the CSL box looks like ... so it's a bit easier to visualise.
