Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
sammaw replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
thanks for the feedback. yeah it doesnt owe me anything, i ve had it for nearly 25years. but if its value was around 15k painted, running and wof and reg then i think it is nearly worth it. looking at parts on trademe it seems they are alot cheaper then porsche parts, or cheaper then they use to be. I dont really want to modified this one as i have an e30m3 and some other go fast cars, and i just enjoyed the way it drove. No doubt it is a lot slower then i remember So if I budgeted 10k for paint, 5k for mechanical (suspension, plugs, filters etc) I am probably about even. looks like secondhand running engines around about 4k. -

a really long time member, i havent been on bimmersport for about 14 years but my account still works. So I have an e30 which i parked in a garage about 14 years ago, nothing special coupe manual 320i. Thinking about doing a restoration on it. new paint etc. Assuming sum of parts is more then it is worth, but so i dont go crazy on it, what would a restored to a mid level e30 320i coupe manual sell for? -
Hey Guys Very interesting discussion. I work for Shell International at the HQ in london. Passed this on to the Vpower team to try get you some answers. Ferrari only take shell fuel as we have sponsored them since they started. there is a whole department that looks at oil products for ferrari and there cars. I currently have a cut in half rally skoda from last season in my reception. It stars in the new tv ad. as of sept you should see the new helix ad dirty on the outside clean on the inside campaign. I am trying to get the car sent to NZ. There should be an old ferrari f1 in auckland viaduct at the moment.

Stocks are 80s and after the crash most prefer these days invest in a mix between metals, oil etc and FX and perhaps some blue chip shares. Generally you can leverage these up 5 to 1 that gives you opportunities to maximize gains much like the property market. however the losses will be greater when you get it wrong. The ratio between your investments will indicate your risk appetite. assuming you are a young buck you can afford to be a little more risky. Information is key, read everything you can then make your assumptions and go for it. Keep some money in the bank for backup. Indian/chinese/brazilian stocks + oz mining stocks. perhaps some silver and some Foreign exchange. Good luck

hi own a jap e30 m3. yes it is H gear box.. nice little car great fun. mine is in Km/h and has bumpers like you describe. sorry i dont know what the size of the fuel tank is. mine is a 86.

hey will where abouts up north, I have a shed up near dargaville with a few e30s in it. let me know if you are up that way and i will bring the m3 for a spin
-
what page is that one on?
-
steering would cost the most. i priced it up at around 9k.
-
i have done it. It has to be brought in on a private name! It must be twenty years old then you can keep it left hook. But i think u will find it hard to find any more in Japan. We had a lot come in last year and a lot went to the UK, USA and Europe. But in saying that i am sure there are a couple left here an there.

I had super low kings in my 328 coupe. To be honest i would not do it. BMW mechanic told me either buy new springs or a new diff. Ended up with some progresive springs which handle far better than the superlows.but if you really want it low and want a set of kings PM me maybe we can work something out

ok I have it all apart. was not to hard. charging the camera now. Yeah i ve seen a few replica m3 based on a 325. at the end of the day they are quite close. The engine parts of the s14 are so light. its really nice to work on no heavy lifting.
-
its a black 2.3 1986 left hook.
-
thanks guys. i will finsh pulling it apart today. when BMW made this engine they really went to town on fastners. I have never seen a engine with as many nuts on the rocker cover to undo.
-
yeah i know what u saying but how am i ment to learn if i dont do. I have a bmw mechanic on standby if i get in a real mess. did a m20 head gasket and it was fairly straightforward but i did have a manual.
-
Hi i have started to pull the m3 engine apart as the head gasket has gone. Does anyone know of a workshop manual for this as it is starting to look a little complicated. I am about to take the cams out now but it would help now before i take the cam chain off to work out if i need to mark the timing etc.

the problem being i cant find any one in nz that has this in stock

looking for X5DC plugs any one got a source for these?
-
I dont think they are related. The service lights are easily reset. they will light when you get to 7500km. either drive around to A BMW dealer and get them to reset the lights or look up on google which two pins reset them. I have never had an issue with fuel usage meter. could be a vaccum line problem? not sure

So if u had the choice would u keep the e30 left hand hook. I ve got one it is rego as it is an 86. but i was goign to convert it as it feels unnatural driving from the wrong side of the car. I priced it up it will cost about $9000max. As the dash can come out any e30. The steering rack can be modified from z3. Pedals etc are quite easy to swap over. But i have nearly decided to keep it left hook and spend $9000 to repaint. Does anyone on here know where i can get some spark plugs for the s14 engine other than the states?
-
you dont need a service light reset tool for e30. just a cheap switch and two wires. I cant remeber off hand which 2 you connect the wires 2. i will look it up and re post it.

yeah really made the cop car look sh*t. one thinks the cop car is way to heavy for 350hp to be so caned.
-
check this out. O and for the record the car did not break down it got away. And thats the US version imagine what a european version would of done to that cop car!

shows the differences between these three great cars in the e46 class opps forgot the link

blackbma I personally would not select 1st gear when trying to roll start back wards. I would use reverse in fact i am not even sure if it will start if you select 1st. as some one rightly pointed out it is the solidnoid.(SP) I had the same problem not only on the e30 but also a light aircraft. Nothing installs confidence in passangers of light aircraft as the pilot walking around with a big stick whacking the solidnoid. haha.

If you are looking for a every day driver i would stear away from the e30 m3. I have one an i can tell u a similar aged 911 is cheaper to service and thats saying somethiing. Problem is finding parts like spark pkugs in nz for the s14 engine.BMW dealerships dont carry them in stock and neither do any other part retailers in nz. You need to import them from the states or europe. So diffinatly costs. However it diffentaly has some grunt and is great fun. I would be tempted to buy a manual 328 e36 or a e36 m3 if it streches that far it will diffentaly be a step up from the 318. the 840 is also another good option. a good unique car with real grunt!
