  2. Funny thing... I did win the lotto! (really, the wife was incredulous as she always says I'm wasting my money on lotto tickets) However, only won 1/3 of the price so won't be buying it. I see an E36 M3 in my future though :-)

congrats! e46 M3 has been my dream for a long time...

  3. Hi All,

I have recently re-lit the BMW flame after owning a E30 320i around 9-10 years ago

I Purchased a 1991 525i off a work mate to do up and sell but decided to hold onto it.

unfortunately it didnt last long, I lent it to a friend and it was involved in an accident and ended up getting written off. So I then decided i would shop around for another one, I had a couple of requirements for the replacement car, it had to be manual and if possible have leather interior. I found a 1988 NZ New 525i manual with leather for sale in Wellington

    So I promptly purchased it.

The Black car has a M50B25 with 150kms on the clock, and the White car has a M20B25 with nearly 270kms, so the long term plan is buy the wreck off the insurance company so I can put the M50B25 into the white car with the manual box. I see there are a few people who have done that conversion so I will no doubt be asking a few questions, mainly in the wiring department :)

    cheers

    Karl

love the look of the white one! ;)

    And welcome to the forums

  4. Discovered for the first time the little orange light on the dashboard of the E39 that shows loss of traction.

However the Landrover Discovery gets hauled out of the barn on days like this.

Haha really? You can manually turn of all season traction control by pressing ASC. Then the little orange light will stay on and you get better acceleration times an easier to burn a bit of rubber ;)

  5. If it's not on the outside I'm not too fussed about what it looks like as long as it's doing its job. If the OEM air box does a better job then that's what I want, regardless of looks!

exactly. plus 99% of the time noone sees whats in your engine bay. oem is the way to go! :)

  6. looks pretty cool compared to oem but it pretty much does nothing at all.

People put these on as they are usually the first or cheapest "performance" mod. Advantages in sound could be achieved in turbo cars such as hearing the turbo spooling up whistle, etc.

Other than that i would recommend oem
