What's wrong with that shows the  New Zealand number eight wire fix it all has now moved to using plastic cable ties. Thats thinking outside the box for sure ?

  3. Are you able to contact the keen buyer and come to an agreement between your selfs. Surely if both partys agree the legal side of this could be sorted with a trip to the local court house or such. Their has to be more than one way to skin this lawyer no doubt he will get paid one way or the other.?.

  5. One nice thing about the e46 is you can remove the front real easy.It gives great access to the engine etc. Found removing the front cross member and struts etc with motor and box as a complete unit was far easier also. As when removed from the confines of the car body was still able to move it around and work on it in comfort. Wish you well with it keep us updated also.

  6. Yea had a look in the the parts cat and it appears the M43 up to August 2001 was cable and the N42 even December 2000 was fly by wire. When you come to remove the pedal module it is on a slide can't remember which way though. What yr is the motor and donor car hope not to far from the year of the touring as bmw is really good a changing things which can be a right pain.

  7. Interesting thought being 2001 it would have been fly by wire already what engine did it have in it before?. As mentioned you will have to use the wiring from the donor car. If the 318 set up was auto you can remove all that wiring and auto control box as it will not be needed with the manual trans. With the manual trans you will need to code the car to make it think it is a manual or swap out the cluster from the donor to keep the system balanced plus all the locks ews etc.

  8. Have you tried using a set of multi grip pliers  and get a grip of the lug on the tensioner then move it in the direction which loosens the belt .This should put the lug on the other side of the hole on the mounting plate put a suitable sized allen key in the hole this will lock the unit up. It is easier to do with the type that has the hex nut hope that helps.

  9. Don't have a clue but found this have a look  https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/schaltgetriebe/bmw-2500-3-3-li-e3.html.

Is the  e12 box a 4 or five speed as bmw fans mentions both plus a 5 speed Zf box and one with an overdrive unit.

Appears thery may have the same motor  M30.

  10. As you are in the looking stage see if you can talk to owners of the various cars you are interested in.This might give you a better understanding of what their actually fuel usage is. The ltr/per 100 figures quoted by dealerships are a guide but in real life motoring are not always obtainable.Check the tank sizes of these vehicles as they may bedifferent from what one thinks resulting in wrong answers to fuel economy. A little time spent now can save for disappointment later on.

  11. Do your home work have been down petrol and diesel road also. By the time you add in the ruc charges etc the over all cost of your diesel vehicle is very near that of a petrol one. HP comes at a cost with the mods you have mentioned the end result could be a quick car but at a high fuel usage rate. Also with the cost of fuel on the rise again and come July Auckland is getting hit with a 10 cents a ltr extra to solve your traffic whooos I believe.

  12. Car S.O.S last night Duke channel13 they did a Ford anglia. Bit of a rust bucket and reguired a bit of chassis rebuilding also they did a VW beetle, fiat 850, world war two willys jeep and a couple of others.
