  1. Saw the most beautiful 1992 E34 today at a garage in Brown's Bay. Maroon red wagon and in completely perfect condition. The wheels, interior and paint looked polished and as good as the day it was new. I took a minute to walk around it, it was so nice.
  2. Cool but not really sure what makes this a bus other than length. I'd call it more of a limousine.
  3. Has been my favourite car as long as I can remember. I think the only thing I would do to it is have it painted 'bianco avus' white.
  4. Hmm, it says M-Spec but i don't think it is even slightly.
  5. I just bought a new key for my 2001 E46 and they quoted me the same price as you mention, but when it actually came in from germany, it was a bit cheaper at $433.Just in case that makes a difference.
  6. His original TradeMe account has been disabled despite being a 'trusted seller', so I doubt he would have disabled his own account. Possibly TradeMe were informed of what he was doing?
  7. This may not be it, but I'll mention it just in case. I had a 'loose change' noise in my E46 that pissed me off for a good week or so, and after a while I got my girlfriend to listen while I drove and she said it was coming from the rear of the car. Turned out to be a loose tool in the tool compartment attached to the underside of the bootlid.
  8. Yeah to be honest that sounds like a huge waste to make a bunch of keys which the majority of will never ever be used. They would end up holding keys for cars that don't exist anymore. Cheaper for BMW to just make the keys as they're ordered which I suspect they would do... I don't doubt that there would be a limit though. In the end I decided to get a remote key despite the fact it won't be a fancy new looking design. I'll have two remote ones but I don't like the sound of a standard key stuffing the lock on my car door if my remote key dies. Peace of mind I guess.
  9. Aren't BMWs great? How likely is the remote to stop working?
  10. Yeah just called BMW and it sounds like it's down to the type of key I have. Mine is an infrared key, and one of the last BMW made. After that they switched to new technology which doesn't rely on line-of-sight like infrared does. The newer keys don't have infrared at all so it just won't work. I'm not paying $500 for an unscuffed version of what I already have so I'll just get the basic key and save some money.
  11. Damn. I can't believe they're charging over $500 for that considering what $500 will get you these days mobile phone wise, etc.Is there any cheaper way to go? Is there a possibility of ordering direct from Germany, hopefully removing the cut that the BMW dealer will take? This is what I was hoping for to be honest.
  12. Hey guys, just wondering what the deal is with ordering new keys from BMW. I went into Jerry Clayton and have been quoted $250ish for a spare basic key with no remote functions, and over $500 for a key with remote functions. Pretty steep but for some reason I am still tempted by the remote key. I think it helps that my current remote key doesn't look that flash as it got pretty scuffed by the previous owners. I'm wondering though, does anyone know what exactly they would give me if I took the more expensive option? Will they give me the same thing as my car came with in 2001, only new, or will they give me a more modern key fob like the later BMWs? I'm sort of looking for something to make the $500 seem more worth it I guess. Also, can car locksmiths do the job cheaper? Is it worth going elsewhere? I appreciate anyone's help / advice.
  13. Been up there to take photos of cars and skateboarders a few times myself. Such a clean carpark, it makes it perfect for professional looking shots... Provided you take the photos before security shows up.
  14. Is that up above Mitre 10 Mega in Albany? Nice shot by the way.
  15. We were just hoping due to it being a crash caused by complete idiocy and carelessness. I guess we knew it was unlikely but we tried. It was more that AMI made excuses for the driver (not even their customer), trying to defend them which pissed us off.
  16. I worked out what is causing the low whiney fan noise. It only occurs when the air con is on (the snowflake button). Should I be worried about this noise or is it fairly normal with air con? Just to clarify, it's not the sound of the fan that blows the air round the car. It sounds like it's coming from the engine bay which is why I thought it was engine related until today.
  17. A truck crashed into my (parked) old car and wrote it off while we were insured with AMI. We were paid out for the car of course, but it was nowhere near covering the other costs we had to pay because of the crash so we tried for compensation costs. Rather than looking into the situation and talking to the truck driver's insurance company, AMI made excuses like "it was a narrow road", as if they were defending the truck driver. Bullshit - hundreds of trucks go along the road daily without a single accident. The truck driver had been careless and we should have had some form of compensation. As far as I know he was fired because of the crash but we got nothing but the very minimum payout. Needless to say we're with AA insurance with my new car.
  18. Thanks mate. The only problem with the airbag problem is that I want to bring it out to you but my work hours and your opening hours cause an issue. Not your issue of course, but I can't afford to take time off work right now.I start back at uni in a couple of weeks so I'll have loads more free time to bring the car out to you then. The car is going to HellBM tonight after work to get a few interior parts swapped and Ray said he could scan it for me to at least find out what the issue is in the meantime. Obviously I'll still bring it out to you when I can for repair.
  19. Scratch that, it seems to do it when the car is moving but not accelerating. Then when I come to a stop, it will continue and then turn off after a few seconds. I'd say it is actually doing it more like 70% of the time I'm driving so it's pretty damn annoying! It sounds like it probably is a fan but it hasn't been doing this up until yesterday, and I'm not sure what I should do to fix it. Any advice at all?
  20. Just today my E46 has started making a low pitched and fairly quiet whining noise as I drive along. It sounds like it could absolutely be a fan making the noise, but the engine isn't running any hotter than normal and it was there since I turned the car on this morning. It is intermittent too, I put the car in neutral and lifted the bonnet but the noise was gone by the time I had got the hood open. It seems to start up when I accelerate but isn't always there. About half and half I guess. Also the car has started to shudder a little bit when in first gear and accelerating slowly while cold. Should I just give it a bit more gas (this seems to stop the shudder) or is this a problem I need looked at? Could these issues be related? I'm not hugely mechanically minded but I'm slowly learning. I was hoping someone on here might offer some advice.
  21. Fair enough but it came from the factory with the badge so I wouldn't mind it still being there regardless. It's really just for show anyway.
  22. I bought the exact same just over a month ago and I'm really happy. I'm sure you'll love it. My wheels haven't been painted black obviously and disappointingly the previous owners ripped the M badge off, but otherwise mine is the same. Personally I'm not a fan of the wheels in black so maybe you could repaint if you agree? I think they just look too black... a dark metallic charcoal as said above would look nice.
