The stuff BMW supply then. Come on, that should be obvious.
-
Nah it's white when it comes out of the bottle, so no dye at all. I put it on my car only a little over a week ago so I can't really speak for how long it lasts, but I can definitely say that it looked just as good when I washed my car today as when I put the stuff on the weekend before this one gone.
-
CarColours will make it on the spot too but I'm not 100% sure how reliable they are compared to proper BMW stuff.
-
Would Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer be a good alternative to Back To Black? Not sure if they're a similar type of product but I'm really happy with how the Meguiars product has worked. You can get it at SuperCheap.

I'd say most people would agree that BBS make some of the best quality wheels available.
-
Looks like a BBS RG-R but I'm sorry I don't know where to find them.

I would love to buy new ones but money doesn't allow it currently. This $21.99 fix that I have done keeps the car looking good even if it's a more temporary fix. New bumpers will come when i have a bit more disposable income. I still need to afford my car getting checked out for an airbag light, some replacement parts for the interior and a new car key. Cheers for the link though!

I only did this yesterday so we'll see how it lasts. I presume I may need to keep doing it occasionally but I'll update this topic as I go.

Just in case anyone is interested or anyone is asking later on, I thought I would share what I did. I went down to Supercheap and bought some Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer for $21.99. This stuff is amazing although I have no idea what is in it. It's a white gooey liquid that you wipe on with a cloth and it makes the trim look new again. This photo gives an idea of the difference between what I was dealing with and the final result: This photo shows how it looked once I had finished the front:

Yeah I got that too for a bit, its a super glitchy website and its different almost every time I go into it.Once you've entered the username and password and you're in, click the top option in the blue side bar which should be titled "Einstellungen". Then look for a drop-down menu which has "deutsch" in it, change it to "english" then click ">>". It should reload in English so hit "Specific Parts Search" in the sidebar, and then "Components of Vehicles". Enter the last 7 digits of your VIN number and hit ">>". Once you've done that, it should show some details of your car. Then hit "Options" which is in grey right at the top of the page.

Hey Ray, just so you know I am still keen for the above, but money has been tight. I will likely contact you later this week or next week to sort out getting them done. If you still have the parts that is!
-
That's exactly what I'm after. Thanks mate!

Cheers guys, this has been hugely helpful. The link in the BMW ASAP topic is a bit hard to follow and find info though!
-
I'm just wondering - I have seen a few other BMW forums where people have been putting their VIN numbers up and other members who have access are then supplying them with build-sheets that give all the details of the options that their car was originally purchased with. What I want to know is whether anyone here has access to something like this that may be willing to do the same? I know there are websites that will give some minor details for free, but they are usually details you already know. There are also a few sites that charge and give more information, but I'm not sure I would trust them with my money, or that I am quite that keen to know. I apologise if this has come up before. If it has, please direct me to the topic - I couldn't find it! Cheers.

Yeah the Audi R8 and the blimp are both photoshopped in. Audi ran a photoshop comp on Facebook and obviously someone took it further.

Finally had a chance to wash my car today so here is some photos. It needs a bit of work cleaning it up still, but I hope to get there eventually.

Wow thanks for the great replies. So it sounds like this Revive product might be the way to go if it's not too expensive for me! Would I need to remove the black strips before applying a product like these? Would they affect the paint at all?
-
Hey I appreciate the reply. I probably can't afford to have them painted just yet though. Perhaps that's something for the future. I also spotted in the below link, about 3/4 of the way down, that the guys at Prestige Finishing School somehow removed or covered up the wax on this Ferrari's wing mirror surrounds: http://prestige.finishing.school.nz/Portfo...75M-part2.shtml Does anyone know what product that might have been?
-
Presumably that's what the installer meant, yeah.
-
Hey guys, my E46's black plastic bumper strips are greyed out and quite patchy which could be sun fading but I think it's more likely wax build up from previous owners washing the car. Is there a product that you guys can recommend that will help restore them to black? Any tips for using it? Would I need to remove the strips to do so? Cheers, Oliver.

I'm not so sure that is true. I was speaking to the guy who installed my Sony unit in my E46 and he used to be an expert in European car stereo upgrades. He said that the worse reception with aftermarket units thing is a myth and that the reason a lot of people lose reception in their BMW is because they don't 'power' it.Since he did the install, the reception in mine has been fantastic and I can't fault it. So yeah I don't know what to believe because I wouldn't have thought BMW experts on a BMW forum would be wrong either! EDIT: I should add that the aftermarket Pioneer unit that was in my car when I bought it had terrible reception because it was not powered. It couldn't even pick up stations properly.
-
Haha I think I might get in trouble for that. I'm not the only member on here that works at Mighty Ape and the other guy is much higher up than I am! I need to wash my car before I will put any pictures up, but hopefully I'll find time to do that this week.
-
Thanks guys. So it sounds like it is not worth buying one of these SRS tools. I'll look into taking my car in for repair somewhere soon.

Hi Ray, I'm after a few things for my manual 2001 E46 318i sedan: - A replacement gearnob (mine has an 'M' logo on it if that helps - I'd like to get a similar one) - A black headliner (mine is sagging) - A replacement sliding cover for the small rear passenger compartment that is situated in the centre of the car, just behind the two front seats. Also keen to know pricing to have these fitted if possible. Can you help me out?

Fully understand that mate, but I'd like to get a scanner to work out what the issue is and get it fixed. I understand that buying a scanner can be cheaper in the long run than having issues diagnosed by a BMW serviceman. So I'm not wanting the scanner to just clear the light. I do want to fix my car! Does anyone know where I can pick up a scanner from? EDIT: Alternatively Glenn, I'm sure you have a scanner at your business. How much would it cost to have you check my car out? You can PM me if you don't want to say on a public forum.
