  1. Engine bay was stripped and painted. Rear guards trimmed and re welded to accomodate larger wheels, and test fit the m3 kit with loads of tape and screws. and finally i started removing surface rust that had begun to appear after rain caught me off guard and flooded the car one weekend.
  2. Then the fun began... the car was stripped, dash, wiring loom, engine, gearbox and sunfoor panel removed. severe rust was found in the channels and under the roof skin so roof was also removed.
  3. This is what the old girl looked like after cleaning, polishing and replacing various missing parts followed by a post crash (approx 2 months later) after straightened chassis rails, new radiator support panel, replaced front grilles, headlights, radiator, front wiring loom and fint fibreglass guards and bonnet courtesy of Mike Shaw Fibreglass.
  4. Hi guys this has been my project for the past 18 months and ive been taking pictures but not started a build thread so here it is.. Haters and purists gonna hate but please take into account the rarity and cost of an actual m3 shell and appreciate the time and effort i have put into this build before you go commenting cheers. So the build started when i bought the old girl as a cheap daily driver to replace my turbo s15 silvia. it started as a restoration and i spend a fair few $$ getting it back to almost showroom condition. Then the worst possible scenario happened... an altercation with a holden captiva left it in a rather bad way.
  5. MAAATE! that thing is insane! you may have just converted me back to doing up the M10..
  6. If i win lotto i'll be getting a widebody and an IRL V8 like team edlingers E30
  7. as title suggests im in need of the following for an M50B25 conversion into an E30 E34- sump, oil pick up tube, dipstick and dipstick tube. E36- engine mount arms. M50B25 engine loom (to suit non vanos early e36 if it makes any diff?) plus any tricks and tips or helping hand when the time comes. On a budget so the cheaper the better. Cheers
  8. cheers for that it cleared a few things up. only problem being that the swaps people are doing are on Fl model E30s. mines PFL so are the elecs not different?
  9. Hey lil bro ther should be the plugs tucked away as your car had foglights fitted factory. come by work tomorrow and i'll hav a gander
  10. I know all about the E34 sump etc needed but im not too flash with electrical stuff. as far as looms go i know i'll need engine loom but what about engine to body loom etc mine isn't OBD like the facelift M40B18s are. do i need ALL the wiring incl. dash looms? (just wanna make sure i've got everything i need before i start)
  11. haha would rather keep it OEM powered not too keen on hybrids lol although i've seen an E30 with a 1UZ-FE that was pretty sick!
  12. yeh car is straight its a NZ new and has been well looked after just a lil rust but its been fixed, m10 turbo or supercharged did go through my mind too but im not after big HP numbers its alreadytractionless with its 80 odd HP now so 19X HP would be more than enough. And engine out of E36.
  13. heya now down to my car i have a PFL, NZ new, factory manual, E30 coupe. I'm wanting more power and a bit more unique-ness to my car, so decided to put the m50b25 sitting in the shed to use. before i take on the task.. 1) Has anyone done this conversion into an M10B18 powered (or un-powered ) E30? 2) Is it worth the hassle? 3) Is it do-able without first getting wiring looms etc for 325 and doing the obd plug rewire or aftermarket ecu? Any help would be awsome.
  14. Thanks for insight but this does it reguardless of engine temp. its just completely flat (power) after about 3-3500rpm. would make sence if the computer not operating the vanos as it would normally kick in about then?
  15. I've checked with coombs bmw and the car definately came out without vanos so was probably one of the last ones to come off production line without vanos. The 'b52' has vanos so im guessing that the ecu could just be swapped to suit? although after closer inspection there is a whole heap of plugs that aren't going anywhere and also they have nothing to plug into.. I might just pull this engine out and start from scratch, I dont know what other dodgy crap the previous owner has done so might be the best option..
  16. just another side point to this i have e36 ti corners to go in my e30 whats the recomended setup when running the e36 set up? In the rear can i stick with my H&R springs and get konis to suit e36 ti or stick with the e30 shocks? I have also considered getting a set of the XYZ coilovers but going by whats been said probably more inclined to stick with a softer more street friendly setup.
  17. I've found the problem the car left the factory withan M50B20 and now it has an M52B20 in it. so next question is can i swap over the ECU and get away with that or is it a pull the engine out and put the correct one in?
  18. yeh i realise that but it is more than usual and seems to run fine on a foggy and coldish day. it doesnt seem like compression after going over it a couple of times im pretty sure its electrical fault ie ign. timing or fuel supply issue. i'll keep hunting and post again tomorrow if i make any progress.
  19. Hey guys my brother has a 1994 e36 m50b20 that runs ok but is gutless as hell. its had a replacement motor out of a 97 e36 and is currently with vanos. As i have no idea what engine was in it from factory (other than it was an m5b20) im stumped as where to start looking. could it be that the original engine?electrical system is OBD1 and the engine is OBD2? any help or where to start looking would be good.
