My new much loved car - my 2002 530i (Jimport). Haven't done anything to it yet, but all it'll likely get its Tints, a subtle exhaust mod (want some sound) and maybe Mags if I can finally get my hands onto some Style 81s lol. As usual it has a broken cup holder, the drivers seat squeaks cos i'm fat (apparently wd40 on the rails fixes that?) and It has a 4:3 headunit rather than a 16:9 so trying to rectify that. Previous bimmers: 1999 e46 328i 1994 e36 320i Many more pictures to come lol..

Ideally the newer the better. Will pay cash.

By ditching the factory widescreen unit and going with a dinvin or other 3rd party headunit? Clearly the GPS/Nav/TV all goes - but what OBC stuff goes?
-
Like the title says, anyone know where I can get a hold of a Mediabridge for my e39? I will resort to ebay if I have to, but would rather buy from inside NZ if you get what I mean.

Hey guys, After a set of Style 81 wheels (ideally in wellington/lower north island lol) and a set of clear indicator lenses Facelift e39 tail lights, if your after orange ones I'll swap (Style 81 is http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/81 )

Hey guys, Anyone have any recommendations for someone to fix my slightly foggy e39 headlights, their factory HID so its mostly to prevent the glare for other people (plus I hate the foggy look). Also, Recommendations RE window tinting? Who's trustable these days, its been 10 years since I last had a car tinted LOL.

I painted the ones on my e36 - they chipped to bits on the first palmy to wanganui drive I did. Never bothered to change the ones on my e46 though.
-
Mmm true, I've already ordered new cup holders LOL... Might spend it on a full-kahuna groom and leather conditioning job,
-
So funny... I was a bit like that with my E46

I'm likely gonna grab some matte black ebay grills. Cheap enough that if they are terrible finish wise, i'll just spray em black with an no gloss enamel paint. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Black-Wide-Kidney-Grille-Grill-For-BMW-E39-525-528-530-535-M5-1997-2003-/261432946114?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cde9e2dc2&vxp=mtr Also, does it make me too ricey/5+HP if I get a set of these as well? LOL - They look amazballs http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=832702451

hehe agreed - i'm a real stickler for clean mags. The car has BBS style ones, so will be out with the electric toothbrush at the weekends

[Q] Replacement/Upgrade for e39 530i

I only considered aftermarket if I can't get a factory unit to do what I want, which is basically play an iPod and the OBC stuff. The Dynavin units seem awfully expensive -

Yea defo want iPod integration, It has the CD Stacker in the boot, but ain't no body got time fo that... The CD Changer connector can be reused for an iPod yes? I may jump on eBay and see if I can find a mk4 - I was doing a lot of gooooooogling last night on things. Can't WAIT to pick the car up -
I did it on my e36 (it was black) but not to my e46 (it was silver) and the 2002 e39 530i I am picking up next week is silver also. What are peoples feelings on the black grill dealie? Obviously it will give me +5 HP

[Q] Replacement/Upgrade for e39 530i
m2geek replied to m2geek's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Monitor was off/not working. Pushed Many buttons - but nothing but the sound of the radio and an orange light near the volume dial. I shall have another fiddle when I go to pick the car up next week. I'd prefer to keep it original as all the aftermarket stuff looks out of place. If be i'll try n pick up used replacement headunit. In the boot there is a bigass DVD rom thing that says its for the navigation - it also has the boot light apart of it. Did a Decode on the VIN and the speaker system comes up as "S676A" is that the "premium" one I see people talking about on the US form? -
What a f**king muppet... Clearly not mean't to live/breed.

Hey guys, Getting myself a 2002 530i next week (YAY!) and It has the standard Japanese GPS with the DVD drive in the Boot. I would ideally like to get something in-fitting with the trim. Drove the car today after coming upon it for sale, and the Radio comes on, but couldn't figure out to tune it, nothing showed up on the display when I turned the radio on. Thanks in advance and great to be back on the Bimmersport forums.

Would that be the thingy in this pic on the left side with the weird shaped lid? http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x301/farcle1/step17.jpg Also, Apparently I need my VANOS seals done - after much googling last night that is likely what is causing my iffy idle and sluggishness. I'd attempt it myself but I don't have any tools to do it LOL.
-
Heya guys, my E46 328i has recently developed raw fuel smell or something close to it on the passenger side of the engine bay - Any common things it could be before I take it to my mechanic? I wonder if it has something to do with my funky idle when its cold (it tries to stall? does it every 2-3 seconds while idling and cold)

Afternoon, Anyone know of a good place to get wheels powder coated in Wellington or in the Hutt(s)?
-
Hey guys, Got myself a 98 328i today and freakin love it Its a jap import like my e36 so its got the Japanese dials/OBC readout for fuel usage, and I was wondering if there is a way to change the format from km/l to l/100km? The Japanese format does my head in Also, I managed 8l/100km driving from Wanganui to Wellington tonight - seems pretty damn good to me!
-
How much do they usually cost to get replaced? My e36 failed its wof on worn out bushes - also they said I should get the rear shock mount rubber thingys done too - again how much?
-
Ah, that's good to know... I shall have to get some quotes monday - having a black car with black interior in summer with No air con is utter murder - especially with it raining a lot and being so muggy..
