Not sure what a torque converter drain is but the car's definitely quick and acceleration in sport mode is excellent. Planning manual conversion in the long term though. Can custom headers, retune and exhaust add 140 horses? I'm not wedded to the supercharger, just read a lot of good Google feedback. Also apparently much cheaper than turboing from what I've read but I'm open to suggestion as I know next to nothing. Sell me your ideas, gentlemen! Preferably something with lots of power that won't cost (too much) more than the car and won't blow the engine up - I do still want to drive it to the shops now and again!

TBH I thought that was an old wives' tale. If there's evidence to suggest otherwise I won't use it.

Pun intended?

So I bought this car and it's excellent. Two $16 a piece rubber mounts for the oil filter from Gavin @ Euroitalian (no more cable ties) are the first of a few remedial purchases. I've just placed an order for a full set of NGK iridium spark plugs, K&N air and oil filters (new gasket that comes with the oil filter will fix leak from oil filter housing) and will do a full service and skim the rotors as soon as everything arrives. Fantastic car and so much power - especially torque - compared to the 528i. Absolutely loving it. Then start saving for one of these... And then one of these...

Have you struck gold lately, Diesel Guy? First the E90 and now a CSL! Good on you!

E92 M3 Supercharged for sale on TM?!
jeffbebe replied to E36ShoppingTrolley's topic in TradeMe discussions
Holy sh*t! What a beast. People don't seem to have too much nice to say about the E92s on here but I wouldn't mind a hoon in that one!! -
Took Carfolie up on their very competitive offer for some nice dark tints to stop nosey people looking into my car and seeing my hello kitty rug on the parcel shelf. Hard to believe, as I look out of my office window and the Sky Tower is obscured in thick clouds, lightening strikes and tornado warnings pop up in the news that it was a beautiful sunny day when I dropped my car off at Carfolie. Before: After: Sorry about the crap pics.

Pity it's starting hosing down! Look forward to many, many pictures, Tristan.

Did I see this on the southern motorway on Friday last week (I think)? If not this one, another Alpine white 1M. Can't be too many around. Not my favourite looking car but I bet it's absolutely nuts to drive and TBH, you don't really give a f*ck what it looks like when your foot's to the floor the hair on the back of your neck's standing up. GLWS

Brilliant, thanks mate. Tristan, could be keen to do a bulk buy on this stuff and do both our cars at the same time (over a box of beers).

Click the 'quote' button underneath each post you want to reply to, then click the 'add reply' button. Would be keen to know what you clean the underneath with (and how often)!

Thanks for the help Allans. Getting these ones for $430 with the brackets, less than the ones in my 528i have added to the sale price!
-
Cool. So just make sure I get all the brackets, etc.

Okay. My (new to me) 540i currently has standard halogen headlights but according to build sheet it had xenons: I can get a set of factory E39 xenon angel eyes cheaply from a guy wrecking a 2000 528i and I'm trying to figure out if it will be straight plug and play before I purchase, or will I need to add ballasts, etc? Presumably if the car had factory xenons originally the auto levelling sensor should be in place and the LCM should be able to be coded for HIDs. If not, does it just mean auto levelling just won't work or would I need to retrofit (which is way more hassle than it's worth) to get the lights to work? Advice would be appreciated before I part with any cash. Thanks in advance.

What kind of treatment? Looks pretty effective!

I admire your courage for standing out but think you're mad!You get a pass for the E39

I've got some old black grills I'll throw on for now but plan to get gloss black facelift grills eventually. I paint-matched the ones on the 528i and feel they belong with that car. Have been tinkering with the car most of the weekend and, barring a few cosmetic things and a decent service, am going to save for a manual conversion as the first order of business. Ray? Brent? Anyone?

Don't think I can be bothered switching the boot lids. Everyone seems to prefer Euro so maybe it's the antiestablismentarian in me that makes me lean towards the US boot lid. Anyway, ditched the ///M badge and I think the back looks pretty tidy.

Pretty similar in style to my RSIIs so of course I love 'em! Tom'll be glad they've gone to a good home!

Yet to decide as I think the angel eyes make the 528i much more saleable and I know I can pick up a new set of Depo lights fairly cheaply when I think it's time. Have decided to focus more on performance this time around as I won't be using the car daily and want to take it to the track now and again eventually. That said, I'll make sure I get looking as good as I possibly can on a budget... Starting with Car Folie's excellent tint deal!! Yep, picked up some buttons and a replacement centre arm rest from Brent today (partly so I could give the car a bit of a thrash!) though we had to check a few units to find four undamaged ones. I only needed the temp up/down buttons for boths sides but did noticed on eBay you could get a set of 4 said buttons for around US$25 brand new. Not sure of shipping.

Nope, antother sedan. My wife didn't even know it was different when I brought it home! Jacket's all yours... And thanks! Cheers... I've cannibalised a few bits and pieces for the 540i so will probably relist at a lower price.Needs to sell $7500 ono (will take $6750 without standard headlights and dying air con compressor)

Started ransacking the 528i for it's good bits (though quite a few are not compatible). 528i still looks better I reckon even without the BBS wheels thanks to projector headlights, euro boot lid, tints and lower suspension (can anyone tell me if m-sport I suspension should be lower than m-sport II? Or if m-sport II suspension is adjustable? the 540i looks pretty high). Still more to do but both cars look mint and I don't want to strip too much from the 528i so it stays a mint car for the next owner. Anyway, it's all about the pics:

That's pretty reasonable though I don't suppose they're open at the weekend!
