  1. Sounds bloody great. Wish I had NZ$133K... Let alone NZ$133K to spend on a car!!
  2. That sounds amazing! What did they do for $40? Recurb and powdercoat?
  3. My car looks a lot like this: I've just bought an M5 bumper so I can make it look like this: But have just seen an ACS lip kit and skirts on TM for $500 that would make it look like this: And I can't decide which I like better. I think the M5 bumper looks better than the ACS front lip but I won't have the M5 skirts or rear bumper. I also kind of like the idea of the ACS modifications as my car is a 528i not an M5 or even a motorsport edition. What does anyone else think?
  4. I got some cheap vinyl tape from ebay which worked pretty well but would like to replace the trim at some point with factory shadowline trim. If anyone with an E39 shadowline is interested in swapping their shadowline trim for chrome trim then drop me a line. Also want to replace all of the bumber and door impact mouldings for plain black. Again, very keen to swap if anyone likes the chrome look.
  5. So, in the end I decided to buy the one I liked from ebay for an LHD car and DIY modify it to fit my RHD E39. Here's a quick how to [moderators, feel free to put this in the DIY section]. I'm pretty happy with the results: 1) This is what I bought (cost about NZ$25 incl shipping): 2) I cut the sides off with a fine tooth hacksaw and glued the pieces back together to fit the space for a right hand drive car. Then filled any gaps, etc with some plastic putty (bought some cheap sandable filler from Mitre 10) and sanded to shape with fine grain sandpaper - sorry, only thought to take pics when I was almost finished: 3) Primed with cheap off the shelf spray paint (this will highlight any bumps/cracks in your filler and sanding so you can fix those up before the final coat of paint): 4) Finished with 3 coats of matte black (cheapest I could find) spray paint: 5) Fixed in place with a bit of 3M tape on the underside - not ideal but effective - and here's the finished result which I'm very happy with. As you can see it'll hold a bigger latte size coffee cup, the passenger holder is slightly smaller as the tray is narrower but will still hold a coke can or long black size coffee cup:
  6. I found these - http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...d.php?t=1592862 - but judging by the comments it didn't end well with people getting ripped off or the cup holders not fitting/closing properly.
  7. Thanks. I've seen those but they don't appeal to me at all, nor do the ones that pop out of the coin storage or ashtray. I want something that looks like it's part of the original fit out. I just want it to work better than the OEM ones!
  8. Thanks, I appreciate your help.
  9. I know nothing about cars, headlights, auto electrics, etc but want to replace my existing halogen lights with a set of xenon and LED halos. I've been offered an HID conversion kit with install but I've heard that those aren't road legal so it could cost me my next WOF. Anyone had any experience of this? Also, I've seen these on ebay - http://www.ebay.com/sch/cforcar/m.html?_nk...1.c0.m270.l1313 - they look perfect but I've no idea whether they will fit or whether further conversion is necessary to use xenon bulbs and the vendor's not that helpful. I've got a '96 facelift 528i that has already had aftermarket halogen angel eyes installed. Here's a pic:
  10. I know, best I've found by a country mile... Typical that I can only find them for LHD vehicles.
  11. It makes sense that the sensor would be as poorly thought out as the cup holders in front of them! Thank god the rest of the car is a dream drive!
  12. I've got a '96 E39 528i as with most of the E39's the rubbish cup holder doesn't work anymore. I've replaced the rear one with coin storage but have searched endlessly for a decent after market front cup holder. I don't want a springloaded one that pops out of the ashtray. I don't want a crap plastic one that hooks to the side of the seat. I want one that looks genuine and fits where the old one is. Well I found one that looks absolutely perfect and it's only about NZ$30 inc shipping on eBay. It looks like this installed: But can I find one for a RHD car?! No, not anywhere. If anyone knows where I can get a RHD version of this slick aftermarket cup holder I'll be absolutely stoked!
