Hi guys, now that my M50 powered E30 is back on the road I'm finding that it compression locks very easily. It's been suggested that it's a suspension issue, might be that the rear springs are too stiff? Also the brakes are different: RX7 front brake conversion but standard discs on the back - could that be contributing? Has anyone had this issue before and found a way to stop it? Cheers!

^this reminds me, do you have the brackets that hold the side strips on?

Cool, I'll hit him up. I've seen the M3 panels on TM but I'm guessing the rear wouldn't fit flush with normal arches

Where can you get bodykit for E30s? I've been keeping an eye out on this site and Trademe but haven't seen anything come up for a while. Is there anyone that makes replica parts out of fibreglass?

I've degreased and think I've photographed the source... Just need to try to attach a photo using this phone (it's black so it can go in the engine bay haha) Sent from my Lumia 800 using Tapatalk -
Hi guys, I have stumbled across a problem with my M50 swapped E30. I read somewhere that the sump from an E34 has to be used to clear the subframe and that the E36 dipstick will not give an accurate reading. I don't know whether the guy that did the swap used the correct dipstick or retained the E36 one. The question for those who have this mod is: have you changed your dipstick, if so what to; and when you do an oil change, what is the oil capacity of the M52B25 with an E34 sump? Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm getting it back on Saturday afternoon. Is anyone available for a short drive? Or should we aim for another week? -

My E30 is having its top end tuned tonight. Should *hopefully* have it back next week. Will that be in time for a meet up? -

OK, I went to see the car yesterday. The problem with the computer was corrupted software. Go figure. It occurred to Casey to do a full reinstall after the new processor didn't work and it went fine afterwards. AWESOME. Apparently runs great when warm but boy when it was cold it was a different story. Needs its cold-start tuning done. My girlfriend told me I stunk of petrol when I got home. Next step is he will tune it to the point where it can be driven. Go and get a couple of new tires and a WOF (and fix the hole in the exhaust) and then tune it on the road. And then I can get it back. I think I'm going to need a new exhaust, it hits the road pretty easily. Also it's too loud, I want something that sounds a bit more refined and with no carpet it's too loud in the cabin. Does anyone have any ideas? I want it to be quiet if I'm just cruising around but still want to hear any crackles and pops it might make. There's also some things I will need. E30 cluster, wiper relay, heater blower motor and some other things I can't think of right now. Can't wait to take it to a meet! -
Just saw a grey E30 coupe in Dunedin and said hello. P plate was ZOP or something? Is the owner on the forum? Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

The issue at the moment is they haven't been able to run it for too long because one of the chips is heating up. They've replaced that chip but it's still doing it whether coil is reversed or normal so could be a problem with the main chip? They're going to data log it on the road and on some big hills to put it under load, it's a bit better for the engine than a dyno. -

A couple of guys I know from Quality Vehicles. They've set up a company for tuning race cars and work well, it's just taking a really long time. I think there's an issue with the Megasquirt's main chip.
