  1. haha - of course he is. My brain is fried, it has been a long day. I always thought it was a decal as well.
  2. maybe just refurb the wheels but not the caps. Then you could possibly put a light coat of spray paint on so you can still see the AC parts?
  3. Crockett - you are welcome to your views, but please take into account that he sent this email to a number of companies (yes, he included them all in the "to" field). We get a number of these emails regularly, most of them have some degree of punctuation and grammar that makes it legible, and these people get a polite thanks but no thanks. However this guy was obvioulsy just fishing and had not bothered to put any effort or thought into it, hence the 'to the point reply'. I am not sure how it is arrogant. Granted it was to the point, but it was also very truthful. We do expect a reasonable standard of professionalism from anybody that is representing us. I am sure you would do the same if you had somebody out there representing a company of yours. Sending a reply is surely better than sending no reply at all? I bet that I am the only one that will reply to him. Even if it was rather blunt, it was truthful and gave him an indication of what he needs to do to become sponsored. I can just about also guarantee that this 'project' will still be under construction for the next 2 -3 years before it even sees a show, and by then, wheel fashion will have changed again. Our target market is not the "boy racer" market who all need finance. We do not offer any finance. In fact the majority of our business is 30-50 year olds who actually have some discretionary money to spend and we are actually up on sales substantially compared to last year. Word of mouth has by far been our most successful form of advertising. If it did come across as arrogant - I apologise. cheers Jono
  4. this is a copy of the reply Hi John Thanks for taking the time to send us an email. At this stage we will not be interested in sponsoring you for a couple of reasons. We expect a certain level of professionalism from any people we sponsor. Unfortunately your inability to spell and complete lack of punctuation is evidence that you do not possess the level we require. Next time I suggest you run a spell checker before you send an email. Sponsorship is not just about getting free stuff, you need to be able to provide the sponsor with a reason as to why to sponsor you and how it will benefit their business. Simply saying that we will get a sticker on your car is of no benefit to us. By the way, who would pay for the sticker? You have given us no specific details of your car. What has been done to it apart from the widebody? Any engine mods? What colour is it? Perhaps you should have attached a picture. Once again thanks for taking the time to send us an email. I hope you take on board the suggestions I have made, and we wish you the best in your endeavours to find a sponsor. Mag and Tyre Direct Penrose
  5. we actually seriously considered sponsoring him........................... A Dictionary!!
  6. we have 2 7 series for sale a 735i and a 740i. They are V8's but earlier models, both are 96 and under $10k. He is welcome to come and have a look and he likes.
  7. we get a few but generally we do not sponsor individuals. We will help them out as much as we can by doing staff pricing deals but we never give anything away. The biggest thing these days that people need to realise is that sponsorship is basically a form of advertising, so we need to see a return on the "investment". Bimmersport works really well for us (shameless plug). It is quite funny, whenever someone comes in looking for sponsorship I ask them the question. "how will sponsoring you benefit us?". You should see all the blank looks I get, it really is quite funny.
  8. haha Graeme - at least you can you can spell correctly. You are already far more likely to get sponsored!! Just a shame we do not have any 17" Alpina's in stock at the moment. BTW: who would pay for the sticker??
  9. Even though today is random act of kindness day we decided to decline his offer. Copy of the email. 10. It was like that when we bought it, I think it actually looks quite ugly haha.
  11. not sure yet..... I will probably try it around $7k, it has only done 139k. Seems to be a pretty reasonable price compared to others on TM. Has 10 stacker CD and AVS alarm as well. Only downside is that it is auto, but it was perfect for the wife driving round town.
  12. I thought I had better post up some pics of the wife's car since we have had it for quite a while. Unfortunately we now have to sell it as the wife is very very pregnant and we have to find something more suitable. It will be up on Trade Me in the next few days. I wanted to get photos of the exterior before the weather packed in but have not had a chance to clean the interior yet. Specs are: 1995 E36 320i Motorsport Coupe (rare in Montreal Blue) Full Genuine Motorsport kit Clear indicators all round Leather M Airbag Steering Wheel Half Leather Motorsport Interior Professionally Lowered 18" Deep Dish Rims with Stainless Lip 35% tints Anyway here it is.........
  13. Nice work Nath, those tyres really look a lot bigger than they are huh? Maybe it is just the Nexens? Anyway looks vert tuff!! Any chance I can steal one of your pics for our website?
  14. actually 72.5mm. If you buy new wheels they should come with the locating rims, if not we have plenty in stock. BTW welcome to the forums - i have always been partial to the BMW V8's as well!
  15. The number refers to the load index or how much weight the tyre can carry. Simply put the higher the number the better. The letter after it refers to the speed rating. Simply put again the later the letter in the alphabet the higher the speed rating. Just to confuse you though 'H' is the exception. It is rated to 210km/h. W is rated to 270km/h. The speed rating is based on what the tyre can handle for a constant hour so a 'w' rated tyre can sustain 270km/h for a constant hour before it fails. I would still seriously look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, it is only marginally more expensive than the Pirelli and has a load index of 101 with a W speed rating. cheers jono
  16. We have used the S575 on an a pretty wild Evo 6 and they were ok. They are similar in tread design to michelin's, but the michelins outperformed them substantially. However at 3 x the cost of the Silverstones you would hope so! I would look at Toyo's, they are a great price and tend to heat cycle very well.
  17. HB Nick - Get a perm..........
  18. Welcome along, car looks great. X5 wheels if I am not mistaken?
  19. haha have heard that joke many times before but it still makes me laugh!
  20. haha I replied that we don't compress springs nor do we recommend doing it. I told him we could sell him some new lowering springs which would be a lot safer etc. Then went into a very very lengthy email about what happens when you compress springs, the legality of having springs that are not trapped, he might need to shorten his shocks etc etc etc. oh...... and I thanked him for taking the time to take the rear springs out because it is such a difficult job

    Shotgun rules

I always thought you could only call "shotgun" when you are outside and the car is in plain view. IE you can't sit inside deciding where to go, and then when the decision has been made, call "shotgun".
  24. Nice work I always knew that there was only one city in NZ
