I have been wondering about this for a while! For example. Type in 2001 318i on trademe cheapest buy now price on there is $15k, Highest for a non-motorsports model is $20k. Now compare this to turners auction, they have about 5 318i 2000 models listed and the majority are between $11-13k. 1). 1995 rover 620i (bagged with chromes) selling for $10.5k, I've seen compariable ones minus airbags & chromes on turners for $2.5-3.5k 2). 1997 c200 merc, 62k on odometer (everything stock), selling for $17.1K, comaparable on turners for $6.5-7.5k 3). 1996 E280 merc on chromes, 135k on odometer selling for $14k+ There are so many of them. How do people get away with this O.O especially something like the last one. Are people really that stupid O.O? What do you guys think??

Same reason I joined! Although I still haven't figured out where I should get my car serviced. Cheapest thing to do would be just to figure out how to service it yourself I suppose... very economical in the long run! Never really liked the colour burgundy on cars, but I think it looks good on bmers! -
Do you know what the difference is between the 920 and 920T? On amazon.com 920 is selling for $350 and 920T is for $414, so I'm seriously considering the 920, because even with the price of the map, it is still within budget!

Seems like a good idea Do you have a link to the map download? and how much did it cost??

Hiya, I'm just wondering what the HP is for this car, some reviews have it at 184HP, whereas wikipedia is listing it as having 192PS (which equates to 192HP if I understand correctly). Similarly the 0-100KMPH time is different between wikipedia and other reviews. So which one is correct??

I'm wondering what makes this unit better than the DICE one?? I'm very interested in getting some sort of ipod integration but I can't decide between the ICELink, DICE and now this. So what makes it superior? I also noticed that the first two support text display under the odometer, whereas the one above doesn't.

The S30i O.O am I missing something here? I've found quite a few stores selling the s90i for just under $600. Anyone had an experience with this unit?

Hiya, I'm looking around for a decent in-car GPS. I want to buy something reliable, preferably with some sort of video playing capability. Most importantly though I want some sort of text to speech feature so that it reads out the actual road names. I was looking at the Navman S90i, but it has no video playing capabilities. In terms of price - something in the $600 range. Thanks for any help

I think comparatively what doctors are getting paid is a joke. Consider other occupations, such as a plumber who gets paid much more, not as much stress, not likely to kill anyone and no student loan. $23 per hour is a terrible rate. I have many friends who are in their late teens on $17-19 per hour, with no qualifications, student loan or anything of the sort. I'm currently studying towards getting into med school, but money is not the main driving factor, because there are many other professions whereby you can get 2x as much money, with much less stress. This NZ herald article mentions that the avg pay is $71k based on a 60 hour work, keeping in mind this is considered 'average' and for a first year, and for a house surgeon it's 88k average. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/topic/story.cfm?...jectid=10504783

Nothing really, if I ever get to the point where I can't afford stuff I think I'll just sell it! I'm the nerdy sort that heavily budgets stuff and debt is an absolute no-no for me, especially for a car!

I personally am not looking forward to what insurance will be for my new car once it arrives... 02 525i, under 21... no accidents tho.. hope that counts for something!

E39 Day light running lights - Colour change possible?
Avenged.SSE replied to Avenged.SSE's topic in Appearance
Yeah I think we're talking about the same thing, the outer rim of the lights, any idea where I can buy a replacement or how much it would cost? Cheers -
Hiya! As per topic title, is this possible, ie. to get a blueish tint which corresponds to 8000k I think. I saw on trademe they are selling CCFL kits, but they are only for 95-00 E39s. Thanks for any help

Hiya, I'm looking into getting this for my car, as opposed to the ICElink integration kit, only have one concern though, would it, at all be possible to retain cd changer controls (via switch perhaps)? while I have this installed? or would the only way to regain the cd changer function involve pulling everything out? Cheers, Sam

I'm talking about these amber bulbs in the headlights, would it be possible to change em to clear ones? I realize that the sides can not be changed from amber to clear.

Awesome! thanks for clearing that up This one.. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=15596

Don't mind at all! Yeah that seems to be it. Although it is advertised on trademe as a 2002 O.O I guess its just because of when it was first registered. How does it look? I'm looking at paying 50% tomorrow, and the rest on arrival. In regards to the lights, I've sorta accepted the front ones as is, mainly because of compliance hassles and pricing as well as cost:difference ratio . As for the tail lights I'm still going to have a look at getting some for a decent price. I read in the other topic that is possible to change that small orange bulb (indicator) in the headlights for a small fee to a clear one, but the platform was E46, would it still be possible to do on the E39? Thanks a lot guys for all the help, very much appreciated

I guess it's just down to personal preference. In regards to maintenance etc. I do have money set aside for that. I'm not looking to get extra money off the car. Cars depreciate ridiculously in price, on top of that, just the mere fact that its a BMW will translate into a lot of added costs for maintenance. I just want something that I like. In terms of money, I'd rather spend $16k and get a BMW that I'm ok with, and look at changing the lights opposed to buying one that has everything I want for $22k. Just need to compromise somewhere I guess. Just my two cents anyway!
-
They are updated lights, however for some reason they decided to retain the amber indicators on headlights and the tail lights. Absolutely no idea why as they are crap in comparison to the totally clear ones imo. The majority of 2001+ 520s I was looking at had clear ones, wheres pretty much all the 2001+ 525s I was looking at had amber ones, bar one or two. This was my biggest concern about the car, everything else seemed good, and I really don't want to settle for a 520, I want some more power.

This may seem like a stupid suggestion, but would sanding the orange bits do anything O.O? would the entire structure be orange or just the surface coating? This is the car.... http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/59/63835859_full.jpg and http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/90/63835890_full.jpg what do you guys think? I'm considering getting an AC Schnitzer kit for it once I get it, worth it or not?? there's a guy selling em on trademe!
-
The car itself is not bad and the price is very reasonable, only problem is the lights I guess I do need to compromise somewhere though. What would I be looking at if I wanted to replace headlights, taillights & indicators with clear, non-xenon hella ones? Also.. How would I know whether lights comply with NZ standards or not?
-
Heh sounds like I'd be better to avoid this car altogether, seems too much trouble to change the lights!

What about these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03-BMW-E...4QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03-BMW-E...9QQcmdZViewItem would they do the job, or be legal to use in NZ? Cheers

Hiya, I'm about to purchase a 2002 525i. Only problem with it, is it has face-lifted yellow lights. Not clear. So I was wondering where I can purchase some clear ones from, and regarding the headlights, I really want xenon ones, can anyone recommend a place to get these? Cheers
