I thought BMW status was killed long long ago when every teenager started buying one and pimping it out!

My turn to go out on a limb... Aren't the E36 cheap as chips these days? Is price really the number one factor? In regards to the classical comments, wouldn't a car have to be relatively rare/coveted to be a classic? every 3/4 bmers is either a E36 or an E30!

I thought the H stood for humble! Me not a big fan of old(er) cars, I think its the boxish shape, I like my roundedness, I too dont like blond girls, I prefer purple, perhaps blue Oh and Velcome to ze forum

Lemme reword that! not bigger, just heavier or at least that's how it felt, twas the C200! made me really dislike mercedes towards the end, the thing would take sooooooo long to accelerate

Even though it's quite a biased comparison, I would have to say my current bmer is about 50 000 000 times better than my ex-merc, but then again it had a smaller engine, larger body and wasnt of comparable class, but all that aside, I think BMW have soundly beaten mercs there, it's just not plausible to argue that mercs are more luxurious! oh and current 7 series >>>> any s class merc!

Like the way it looks, drives and feels, and the way it looks parked up in uni. I'm not particularly in love with it though, infact I'm just waiting to get a newer 735, I like the more modern cars, as graham illustrated with the houses, you can't beat the luxury of modern ones

How much for a 735IAL 2003 with around 80 000kms on the clock?

I don't like the whole he's young so he shouldn't drive such a car. I think it's a stupid argument, it was his own personal choice, there's no point roping in everyone else with him. From personal experience I've (briefly) driven a 996 before and my daily driver is a 525i (almost 200HP) although it's no M5, I've still never been tempted to speed in it, or the 996 for that fact, so blaming it on his age is the easy way out, it was his own (personal) stupidity. [Edit]and what does it really matter whether it was his or his dads? Obviously in NZ parents don't (normally) dole their kids out copious sums of money, but what's a few hundred thousands if you're, say... a multi millionaire, obviously there are kids around whose parents have bought them much more expensive cars than an M5!

Hiya, I've decided to give up spending $400 on the ipod adapter since I'm selling the car within the next 12 months! So I'm looking at CD changers for my facelift E39. I found this link on trademe... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-165342350.htm 1). will this fit? 2). is it any good!? I'm basically interested in buying a 6 cd+ changer which can replace my stock changer with no modification, can play MP3s (and see them their tags in the car) and price wise - $200 or less. Thanks for any recommendations/help

I've seen this before and have always wondered about it... wtf E39 coupe O.o how does someone go about changing the front bumper of an E36 to an E39?! seems challenging, expensive and stupid, much better/cheaper just to buy an e46 coupe!

Naw mine isnt a motorsport, and I don't have a spoiler, I've just check it again today, and behold there's no problem! I think it might have something to do with having not garaged it before, last night I chucked it in the garage and it seems fine now.

New enforcement to keep crappy modified/pimped cars off the roads, more rigorous warrant standards and faster speed limits would be ideal.

Hiya, every time I power on my car, and after I take the key out it says check break lights - warning. Now I have checked them and they are all fine, anyway to correct this without taking it to the mechanic, and why did this happen, could it be a loose connection?? Thanks for any help!

I didn't say anything about ME looking good, I just don't want BMWs ASSOCIATED with kids that think they look good by driving some old pimped out bmer. I for one don't appreciate being roped in with all the the wanna-be gangsters when I say I have a BMW, which often does happen because it seems that being a teenager and having a BMW fits that criteria these days! (Any Euro car for that matter). So when I was saying it makes BMW drivers look bad, I mean it makes those BMW drivers that have an ounce of sense so as to not to 'pimp' out their car look bad. Basically I don't want BMWs to be associated with wanna-be gangsters, or people who think that by buying a bmer and putting chromes on it now, it's the ultimate rich/luxury/pimp mobile. /Rant

Just outta curiosity what sort of reaction do they expect to get, is it the "Oh wow you own a bimmer, that makes you affluent (overlooking the fact its worth less than my newish corolla)" or is it sheer amusement/shock? I can't understand why anyone would do that to a BMW, it makes all BMW owners look bad, the statement "I have a BMW" means less than nothing these days, it's a shame really. Oh and once she's up for adoption - No I don't expect to see her lol! I think the new owner would find it weird if I was hovering around his car!

I wonder if violence in the form of firearms is eventually going to creep into our society, basically all it would take is some big islanders pushing around smaller people, light bulb switches on, some smart businessman starts supplying firearms, small people get one, big people get one, dairy owners get one, families get one = guns for everyone? I wonder whether people like that realize how much they are f**king up society...

Two things I hate about people: 1). Yelling out the car at someone (think teenage honda civic). 2). Drivers that think Merc C200/E36 318i (chrom'd/lower'd) is the fastest thing around hence try to overtake everyone. In both situation's I'd like to either A). throw something at car with people yelling, or . put car into tiptronic and mash down on accelerator to overtake or tailgate, two very dumb options but oh so gratifying.
